Clement will earn a $1.25 million base salary, but can earn up to $5.25 million more in innings-based performance bonuses. The club has an $8.75 million option for 2009 with a $250,000 buyout. If Clement pitches 160 innings in 2008 the option increases to $9 million and the buyout to $500,000. Similarly, the respective figures would increase further to $9.5 million and $1 million for 180 innings; and $10 million and $1.5 million for 200 innings. Additionally, if Clement finishes in the top five in Cy Young Award balloting in 2008, then the figures increase to $11 million and $2 million.
