Updating previous reports, the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports Cleveland Browns TE Rod Monroe (leg) suffered a broken bone in his leg. It is not believed to be as serious as the broken leg that caused him to miss the entire season last year.

The Cleveland Browns have re-signed TE Rod Monroe to a two-year deal. Monroe will have base salaries of $375,000 in 2002 and $535,000 in 2003.

Marla Ridenour reports for the Beacon Journal that Cleveland Browns head coach Butch Davis said it is highly unlikely that TE/h-back Aaron Shea (shoulder) would be available for this weekend's game. Without him, the team will rely on Rod Monroe and Jake Moreland to fill in. CB Daylon McCutcheon (ankle) practiced again Friday but remains questionable. He said his ankle is still tender. DE Courtney Brown (high ankle sprain) will miss his second consecutive game this weekend. He said his ankle is improving but he doesn't know when he'll be back.
