He struck out eight in the outing to raise his season total to 35 in 24 innings. Burnett also recorded his 2,000th career strikeout in the game.

Re-signing a handful of the team's eight arbitration-eligible players will require about $20 million. What is left will likely go toward two areas of particular interest for the Pirates, starting pitcher and catcher.
