Blue Jays | Mark Buehrle doesn't last long

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 22:35:00 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle allowed four runs and seven hits in just four innings in a loss against the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, Aug. 19. It was his shortest outing of the season. He hadn't allowed more than three runs over his past 13 starts while lasting at least seven innings in 11 of those outings.

Fantasy Tip: Buehrle ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has been fairly consistent this season, so don't worry too much about this outing. FantasyScore players can continue to trust him, especially when he is at home. Just do not expect many strikeouts.

Blue Jays | Mark Buehrle continues winning ways

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 15:21:38 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle won his fourth straight decision and improved to 8-1 in 14 starts since May 29 with a win over the Oakland Athletics Thursday, Aug. 13. He gave up just two runs and seven hits in seven-plus innings Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: The grizzled vet continues to age gracefully, and believe it or not, he's actually been much better at hitter-friendly Rogers Centre in 2015. The Blue Jays lead the majors in runs scored by a large margin this year, so every time Buehrle ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) starts, he should be in consideration on FantasyScore.

Blue Jays | Mark Buehrle with an extra day of rest

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 09:15:21 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle is pitching on six days of rest when he faces the Oakland Athletics Thursday, Aug. 13. Manager John Gibbons wanted to push Buehrle back because the veteran left-hander was "a little beat up" after his last start.

Fantasy Tip: Buehrle ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has been pretty decent this year with a 3.34 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 148 innings (22 starts), and he should be a decent option as your second pitcher on FantasyScore this afternoon against an Oakland team that has struggled offensively for much of the year. The extra rest should do the grizzled vet well.

Blue Jays | Mark Buehrle continues to own Royals

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 17:19:13 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle allowed two runs on five over seven innings in a win over the Kansas City Royals Saturday, July 11, improving to 4-0 with a 1.24 ERA in his last four starts against the Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Buehrle ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) has been solid this season, and he has 10 wins to go along with a 3.34 ERA. On the flip side, he doesn't strike out many batters, so make sure he has a winnable matchup before using him at FantasyScore.

Blue Jays | Mark Buehrle sent for X-rays

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 20:44:52 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle (ankle) was hit in the ankle by a comebacker during his complete game loss against the Chicago White Sox Monday, July 6. He had X-rays after the game and they were negative.

Fantasy Tip: Buehrle ($6,100; or 12.2% of cap) is a bit of a risk for FantasyScore players heading into his next start, and he isn't a big strikeouts pitcher anyway. At this price level, he is too risky.

Blue Jays | Mark Buehrle hurls shutout

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 19:12:45 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle threw a six-hit shutout against the Washington Nationals Wednesday, June 3. He walked one, struck out two and didn't allow any runners beyond second base. It was Buehrle's second consecutive complete game and the 10th shutout of his career.

Fantasy Tip: Buehrle ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has enjoyed tremendous success over the last four weeks, posting a 2.84 ERA in 44 1/3 innings over six starts during that stretch. If you're not concerned about racking up strikeouts, he makes an affordable FantasyScore pitching option.

Blue Jays | Mark Buehrle earns rare win

Wed, 06 May 2015 19:47:06 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle allowed just one run and six hits over five innings Wednesday, May 6, against the New York Yankees in a win. He also walked one and struck out three in his first victory against the Yankees since April 10, 2004. He entered the game 0-12 with a 7.27 ERA in 17 starts since that only other win.

Fantasy Tip: Buehrle is now up to 4-2 on the season. It's unlikely many started him in FantasyScore due to his putrid career numbers against the Bronx Bombers, but at just $3,800 (or 7.6% of cap) he is a solid mid-level play going forward. Just do not expect very many strikeouts.

Blue Jays | Mark Buehrle struggles vs. NYY

Tue, 05 May 2015 22:21:53 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle is the probable starter for the game Wednesday, May 6, against the New York Yankees. He is 1-14 in 21 career starts against the Yankees with his only win coming back in 2004 when he was a member of the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players would be wise to avoid Buehrle ($3,800; 7.6% of cap) given his ugly career track record against the Bronx Bombers.

Blue Jays | Mark Buehrle hit hard again

Sat, 02 May 2015 02:18:02 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle allowed eight runs on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings Friday, May 1, against the Cleveland Indians. This came on top of allowing five runs on 13 hits in his previous start against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Fantasy Tip: Buehrle ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) may be having his second-half slump a little early. Two bad games in a row are reason for concern, and Buehrle owners may want to pull back a bit.

Blue Jays | Mark Buehrle considering retirement?

Sat, 18 Apr 2015 11:23:04 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle is reportedly considering retiring at the end of the 2015 season.

Fantasy Tip: The 36-year-old Buehrle recently picked up his 200th career victory and is continuing to pitch effectively in his 16th MLB season, with a 2-0 record and a 3.75 ERA through his first two outings this year.
