Michael Haws, whose property backs up to Brown's multimillion-dollar estate, called Bibb County sheriff's deputies in Macon, Ga., after an argument. He said it began when he found Brown throwing grass clippings over the fence into Haws' yard. Haws told deputies that Brown pulled a gun and warned him against coming onto Brown's property, but did not point the gun at him.

"He decided after the painful process last year he was not going to play," said Brown's agent, Scott Boras. "His arm is still remarkably good, but it's about his back." Brown has a career 211-144 mark with a 3.28 ERA in 486 games (476 starts).
