According to The Chicago Tribune, Chicago White Sox SPs Freddy Garcia, Mark Buehrle and Jon Garland all have 10 victories. It is the first time three pitchers from the White Sox have at least 10 victories before August for the first time since the strike-shortened 1994 season, when Wilson Alvarez, Jason Bere and Alex Fernandez accomplished the feat.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports Cleveland Indians SP Jason Bere, who was trying to make it back to the major leagues by pitching at Triple-A Buffalo, called it quits Thursday, May 19 and announced his retirement.

The Associated Press reports the Cleveland Indians re-signed SP Jason Bere to a minor-league contract. He will get a one-year, $350,000 contract if he makes the Indians' roster and can earn another $100,000 in bonuses.

Updating an ongoing story, Sheldon Ocker of The Akron Beacon Journal reports Cleveland Indians P Jason Bere is out of contention for a starting spot in the rotation and will likely be assigned to Triple-A, although the actual move has not been made. "At this point in time, Bere will likely have to start the year out in Buffalo," Indians manager Eric Wedge said. "We knew he would not be 100 percent in training camp."

The AP reports Cleveland Indians P Jason Bere further jeopardized his chance to make the team's starting rotation after a poor performance against the Toronto Blue Jays in an exhibition game on Tuesday, Mar. 23. He had trouble throwing strikes and even threw the first pitch of the game behind the head of Toronto leadoff hitter OF Reed Johnson. In all, Bere gave up five runs on six hits in three innings and walked three. In his previous start, he gave up six runs on five hits in 2 1-3 innings.

The Akron Beacon Journal's Sheldon Ocker reports Cleveland Indians P Jason Bere (arm) threw two scoreless innings, despite giving up four hits and a walk, in a Monday victory. "I was glad to see him get through his two innings," Indians manager Eric Wedge said. "The most important thing for him in his first outing was to throw what he needed to throw and get his work in."
