Texas Rangers OF Julio Borbon and RP Michael Kirkman are both stating their cases to make the opening day roster this spring. Borbon is 4-for-11 in his first six Cactus League appearances. OF Leonys Martin, who is competing for the center field job with Borbon, is expected to begin with Triple-A Round Rock. Kirkman has given up nine hits while walking just one hitter in five spring innings. He is competing with RPs Mitch Stetter, Joe Beimel and Neal Cotts for a bullpen job.

"It felt very good yesterday, and I feel great today," Beimel said. "I'm pretty excited I came through it unscathed and I'm ready to keep pushing forward and trying to win a job."
