The Texas Rangers have signed free-agent OF Conor Jackson (Red Sox) and RP Joe Beimel (Pirates) to minor league contracts which include invitations to spring training. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Pittsburgh Pirates RP Joe Beimel (elbow) will head to the team's spring training complex in Florida Monday, June 27. He had a bullpen session Saturday, June 25, and he featured all of his pitches and felt good. He'll have a bullpen session Tuesday, June 28, and then is expected to work in games before moving up to Double-A Altoona.

Pittsburgh Pirates RP Joe Beimel (elbow) had a bullpen session Monday, June 20, and said he felt "outstanding." He will throw another bullpen Wednesday, June 22, with 20 pitches, all fastballs.
