Tue, 21 May 2013 20:07:26 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Josh Beckett (groin) was able to throw on flat ground Tuesday, May 21, without discomfort in his strained groin muscle. He was unable to do that over the weekend. He is expected to throw from a mound before he's allowed to run.
Wed, 15 May 2013 15:18:15 -0700 The Los Angeles Dodgers placed SP Josh Beckett (groin) on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, May 15, and activated SP Zack Greinke (collarbone) from the DL in a corresponding move. Fantasy Tip: Beckett has been a disappointment for the Blue this season, and he can safely be dropped in most mixed formats unless you plan on utilizing him in a DL spot.
Wed, 15 May 2013 11:51:06 -0700 The Los Angeles Dodgers are considering placing SP Josh Beckett (groin) on the 15-day disabled list after he suffered a slightly strained groin muscle during his start Monday, May 13. Beckett is currently 0-5 with a 5.19 ERA. Fantasy Tip: Beckett has not pitched well this season and probably doesn't deserve a roster spot in deep mixed leagues as a result. With Zack Greinke (collarbone) coming back Wednesday, this might be a good time to rest Beckett up. Ted Lilly (rib cage, neck) is also nearing a return and could slot back into the rotation to fill Beckett's void.
Tue, 14 May 2013 06:09:11 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Josh Beckett (groin) left his start Monday, May 13, with a slightly strained left groin. Manager Don Mattingly hinted at other "things" Beckett has been dealing with, but the manager wouldn't elaborate and the pitcher brushed off a follow-up question. Fantasy Tip: Beckett is 0-5 with a 5.19 ERA and has just been getting knocked around. He still has good stuff, evidenced by his 41 K's to 15 walks in 43 1/3 innings. He said he was healthy enough to pitch, but the differing opinions from his skipper makes you wonder if he'll need a DL stint to clear his head.
Fri, 03 May 2013 18:13:58 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Josh Beckett is likely to get an extra day of rest, starting Tuesday, May 7.
Tue, 26 Mar 2013 21:21:02 -0700 The Los Angeles Dodgers want to have the option of placing SP Chad Billingsley (finger) on the 15-day disabled list retroactively to March 22. He is scheduled to pitch Friday, March 29, in a minor-league game in Arizona, allowing the team the option of placing Billingsley on the DL. He would then be in line to return as soon as April 3, although SP Josh Beckett is already slated to pitch that day. Fantasy Tip: Billingsley is a very questionable option for the first scoring period of the season. See how he fares in his first appearance before plugging him into the active lineup in any format.
Mon, 18 Mar 2013 12:42:16 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Josh Beckett (flu) was scratched from his outing Monday, March 18, due to the flu. He's throwing a six-inning, 76-simulated game instead. Fantasy Tip: Beckett's illness can't be that debilitating if he's throwing a simulated game instead. He's scheduled to open the year as the team's No. 3 starter, assuming Zack Greinke (elbow) is healthy.
Mon, 11 Mar 2013 14:05:05 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Josh Beckett has started throwing less fastballs the older he gets with his velocity dropping to 91 mph last season. Last year, he threw his fastball less than half of the time and focused more on offspeed pitches. "His stuff may not be the same dominant-type stuff. But again, what's he doing? Making adjustments," manager Don Mattingly said. "His changeup is getting better. That's what pitchers do that really know what they're doing. They'll keep changing speeds, whatever they have to do." Beckett has thrown eight shutout innings this spring with nine strikeouts and a walk. He has worked with former SP Sandy Koufax this spring on his delivery and working more with his curveball and changeup.
Tue, 05 Mar 2013 19:56:19 -0800 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Josh Beckett has had his next start moved up a day and switched to a minor-league game so he can work on mechanics without impacting the big league club.
Tue, 12 Feb 2013 19:59:26 -0800 Los Angeles Dodgers SPs Josh Beckett, Chad Billingsley, Chris Capuano and Clayton Kershaw will throw bullpen sessions Wednesday, Feb. 13.
