It's not like a last resort, a move we're making just to salvage this guy's career, because he is a football player. "I don't know that it will have 100 percent impact, but it is definitely a factor," coach Butch Davis said. Davis declined to say which players have the most at stake this week, but it's likely that the team's RBs (Travis Prentice and Curtis Enis in particular), WRs (Kevin Johnson, JaJuan Dawson and Dennis Northcutt), safeties (Marquis Smith, Percy Ellsworth and Earl Little), CBs (Corey Fuller, Daylon McCutcheon and Lewis Sanders) and interior linemen on both offense and defense will get the most attention. Mini-camp will be run without pads so it is more difficult to judge the play of the linemen.

He expects to experiment some moving players around at different positions. OL Jim Pyne (ACL rehab) will be limited but he will take part in some individual work. In other news, Davis and president Carmen Policy keep talking about June 1 when the next wave of veteran releases will occur. The Browns will be watching closely to see who is released.
Sun, 11 Mar 2001 23:10:39 -0800
