Former St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa may have a job with the Los Angeles Dodgers if Steven Cohen purchases the club. La Russa met with Cohen, according to two people familiar with the sale process but not authorized to comment. The two men discussed how La Russa might fit with the Dodgers, the people said, but no agreement was reached and La Russa has made no commitment.

The Baseball Hall of Fame will honor former St. Louis Cardinals manager Red Schoendienst, Whitey Herzog and Tony La Russa as special recognition for the living managers who led the Cardinals to World Series titles July 21.

Retired manager Tony La Russa will assist at Detroit Tigers camp in an unofficial capacity this spring. "Tony's going to be down for a couple weeks," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "He's going to work with Dave (Dombrowski) in the front office, and he's going over to Jupiter for a few days and then go out to Arizona for a few days. He will not be in uniform."

Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig said he'd like to see former St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa manage the 2012 All-Star Game. The team whose manager goes to the World Series the previous year manages the All-Star Game the following year. La Russa said in an in-depth interview on Studio 42 with Bob Costas that he wouldn't lobby to manage the game but would consider it if Selig asked him.
