However, manager Dusty Baker said he was concerned with the number of inherited runners who have scored. Reds relievers have inherited 105 runners and allowed 36 of them to score (34.3 percent).

Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker said the team decided to keep SS Paul Janish over IF Adam Rosales on the 25-man roster because of his superior defense, along with the fact that starting SS Alex Gonzalez (hamstring) is just returning from injury, according to John Fay of The Cincinnati Enquirer. "With Gonzalez's situation, we need the defense," Baker said. "(Janish is) our next true shortstop. He worked hard to improve his strength and hitting."
