He was ejected in the eighth inning of the team's game versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, June 11, for beaning OF Andrew McCutchen. Two batters prior, Kontos threw behind OF Starling Marte and received a warning from the umpire. The reliever didn't admit that his offerings were intentional, but Giants 2B Marco Scutaro had already left the contest because he'd been hit in the left hand with a pitch. Kontos and manager Bruce Bochy are likely to receive disciplinary action from the league.
In a corresponding move, RP Sandy Rosario has been recalled from Fresno.

He was held out of the lineup Wednesday, May 8. "Angel is feeling better," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He can play but I want to be cautious with him. The last thing we need is a setback. We feel like this will go away."
