Former 3B Mike Lowell and OF Jeff Conine have been mentioned, along with Toronto Blue Jays Class A skipper Mike Redmond. The Marlins will need permission to speak with Redmond, but it isn't believed to be an issue. Miami will not consider former Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine.

Lovullo managed Triple-A Pawtucket in 2010 before joining new manager John Farrell in Toronto. He was one of the candidates the Red Sox interviewed last year before they hired Bobby Valentine.
