Rockies | Dexter Fowler, Tyler Colvin to see steady time

Colorado Rockies OF Dexter Fowler will continue getting steady playing time, while 1B/OF Tyler Colvin will see time at all three outfield spots and at first base. Though Fowler has been hitting better, manager Jim Tracy has no intention of moving him back to the top of the order.

Rockies | No throwing yet for Jhoulys Chacin

Colorado Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin (shoulder) has not started a throwing program, manager Jim Tracy said, and there is no timetable for him to begin throwing again. For now, Chacin is just working on building up strength. "He'll remain on the program that he's on right now, and that's just some rest and strengthening exercises," Tracy said.

Rockies | Troy Tulowitzki injured, leaves game

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (leg) took a foul ball hit by OF teammate Dexter Fowler off the left leg Monday, May 14, against the San Francisco Giants. After being examined by athletic trainer Keith Dugger, Tulowitzki stayed in the game and took his at-bat. He reached on an infield single against Giants RP Javier Lopez but hobbled to the base in pain. Manager Jim Tracy and Dugger hustled out to first and Tulowitzki was lifted for pinch-runner Chris Nelson. X-rays taken later were negative.

Rockies | Juan Nicasio torched in Sunday start

Colorado Rockies SP Juan Nicasio was rocked for six runs on eight hits, including a three-run home run by Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman in the third inning, as the Rockies lost 7-2 on Sunday, May 6. Nicasio "got some balls up today, and he threw a bad changeup to Freddie Freeman and that got the ball rolling in the wrong direction," manager Jim Tracy said.

"In the couple of games since then, there has been some inconsistency and there has been elevation in the strike zone," Tracy said. "He's got to get it down and pound the strike zone on a consistent basis."

Rockies | Jeremy Guthrie fights sore throat, loses Monday start

Colorado Rockies SP Jeremy Guthrie, who was fighting the effects of a sore throat, allowed six runs on nine hits Monday, April 16, in a 7-1 loss to the San Diego Padres. Guthrie pitched deep into the game because he knew the Rockies' bullpen was suffering from overuse in recent games. "He gave us an opportunity to re-solidify our bullpen," manager Jim Tracy said. "We were able to stay off a number of guys and get ourselves back in place."
