Larry Stone, of The Seattle Times, reports Boston Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell and free-agent manager Mike Hargrove (Mariners) are both being listed as potential candidates to manage for the Cleveland Indians should they dismiss manager Eric Wedge in the offseason.

Paul Hoynes, of The Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports former Cleveland Indians player and manager Mike Hargrove and player Joe Gordon will be inducted into the Indians Hall of Fame in August at Progressive (Jacobs) Field. Hargrove played first base for the Indians for six years from 1979 through 1985. As manager, Hargrove went 721-591, winning five division titles and reaching the 1995 and 1997 World Series as the American League Championship Series champion. Gordon, who died in 1978, was a nine-time All-Star second baseman and an AL MVP in 1942.

The Associated Press reports former Seattle Mariners manager Mike Hargrove has decided to manage the Liberal BeeJays, a semi-pro summer team in southwest Kansas. Hargrove played for the BeeJays in 1972 while on the roster for Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

The Elias Sports Bureau and Associated Press both report Seattle Mariners manager Mike Hargrove's resignation made him the first manager since at least 1900 to depart while on a winning streak of more than seven games.

Updating a recent item, the Associated Press' Gregg Bell reports former Seattle Mariners manager Mike Hargrove will serve as an advisor to the team for the rest of the season, according to Mariners general manager Bill Bavasi. Hargrove was in the final year of a three-year deal with the club when he announced his resignation from the managerial position Sunday, July 1. Hargrove plans on spending quality time with his family after being involved in baseball as a manager, coach or player since 1972.

Gregg Bell, of the Associated Press, reports Seattle Mariners manager Mike Hargrove has resigned from the team. Hargrove said his "passion has begun to fade" for baseball. Bench coach John McLaren will take over as manager Monday, July 2, against the Kansas City Royals.

Jim Street, of Mariners.MLB.com, reports Seattle Mariners SP Horacio Ramirez (shoulder) is doing well on his recovery, according to manager Mike Hargrove, but isn't ready yet to begin a rehab assignment. Hargrove said, "I think he's getting close to throwing a bullpen, but right now, he's playing long-ball catch."

Jim Street, of Mariners.MLB.com, reports Seattle Mariners manager Mike Hargrove said C Kenji Johjima should be much higher on the All-Star voting for catcher than he is. Currently, Johjima is not among the top eight vote receivers at his position. "He's a good player having an All-Star season," Hargrove said. So far this season, Johjima has hit .303 with seven home runs and 22 RBI.
