The Associated Press reports former NFL QB Josh Booty was subdued by a sheriff deputy with a taser gun and suffered a black eye Wednesday, Feb. 13, after being arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. During the booking process, Booty became belligerent and deputies used the taser, according to Lt. Hal Brotheim. Booty is the older brother of Southern California QB John David Booty.

Browns | Team Could Sign Booty

Mary Kay Cabot, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports now that Cleveland Browns QB Kelly Holcomb (leg) has suffered a hairline fracture of his right fibula, the small bone in the lower leg, the Browns will most likely sign a third quarterback to their roster this week. The Browns could re-sign QB Josh Booty, who was waived last week. Booty is still available, although he's had interest from one other team.

Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns QB Josh Booty (hand) started the second half at quarterback for the Browns in the Saturday, Aug. 16 pre-season game against the Green Bay Packers. Booty left the game with a bloody right hand after he was knocked to the ground on his third play by Packers DT Steve Warren.

The Post-Intelligencer reports Seattle Seahawks No. 4 QB, rookie Josh Booty, is not expected to see action in today's pre-season game. Booty has been begging to play, but the coaches need more time to evaluate the other QBs, so Booty won't play. Booty probably will be released tomorrow on the roster cut to 53 players, but could be re-signed to the practice squad Monday.

As an update to an earlier story, Percy Allen reports for the Seattle Times a team source said QB Trent Dilfer, expected to sign tomorrow, will not compete with QB Matt Hasselbeck for the starting QB job with the Seattle Seahawks. It is expected he will push reserves Brock Huard, Travis Brown and rookie Josh Booty for a spot on the team's depth chart.

Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com the Seattle Seahawks have reached contract agreements with first-round pick OL Steve Hutchinson, CB Ken Lucas, the team's second-round pick and QB Josh Booty, the team's sixth-round pick. No terms were released on the Lucas or Booty contracts. Hutchinson's contract is for five years and worth $6.789 million. It includes a signing bonus of $3.314 million and an option bonus of $1.386 million in the second year.

The Miami Herald reports LSU QB Josh Booty could be a draft candidate the Miami Dolphins watch during the later rounds of the upcoming NFL Draft. He impressed the Dolphins with his strong arm and his intelligence during the NFL Combine in February. The 6-2, 222 pound Booty is considered a decent project player. He has the arm strength and mobility. He has also changed as a person after a humbling experience with baseball's Florida Marlins. He has put his failed baseball career behind him to move on to football, the sport that has always been his first love.

The Kansas City Star reports the Kansas City Chiefs are looking at their QB position from all angles. They attended workouts of several college QBs recently, including Oklahoma's Josh Heupel, Iowa State's Sage Rosenfels and Louisiana State's Josh Booty. The Chiefs will be in Indiana Wednesday to watch Purdue's Drew Brees. Coach Dick Vermeil had this to say about the team's reported interest in Jaguars QB Mark Brunell, "We're just sort of following what's happening with that. If they get to a point where they feel they're not able to sign him, that's when we might take a closer look." When talking about the team's upcoming free agent QB visits, Vermeil indicated he was bringing guys in for a look right now, and "not to sign them."
