The Chicago Bears plan to put QB Jay Cutler (ankle) through a full-speed workout Wednesday, Dec. 11, before making a decision on whether he will start over QB Josh McCown in Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns. "We'll have receivers there afterwards. We'll work him through drops, redirect him in the pocket, move him up and down and get as much suddenness out of him as we can," head coach Marc Trestman said. "He's gone through the first steps (of being cleared to play) other than this workout. He's been cleared from a standpoint of allowing us to work him at full speed."

Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman said the team will name a starting quarterback Thursday, Dec. 12, after QB Jay Cutler (ankle) participates in the team's walkthrough Wednesday, Dec. 11. Trestman said he is optimistic that Cutler will be able to play Week 15.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to wait a day or two before finding out who will start. Cutler likely would be a low-end No. 1 quarterback if he is able to return to the lineup. Josh McCown should be considered a solid No. 1 quarterback if he keeps the job.

Chicago Bears QB Josh McCown threw a career-high four touchdown passes in the Week 14 game against the Dallas Cowboys Monday, Dec. 9. He is now 2-0 on Monday Night Football this season, and he has 11 touchdowns and just one interception in place of the injured QB Jay Cutler.

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (ankle) has yet to be cleared to return to practice Thursday, Dec. 5.
Fantasy Tip: All signs point to another start for Josh McCown. The way he's played, the Bears don't really have a reason to rush Cutler back. Cutler may return in Week 15, but don't put your chips on it.
Tue, 03 Dec 2013 14:49:58 -0800
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (ankle) said he's been feeling better, but head coach Marc Trestman is still referring to him as "week-to-week." Cutler was hoping to return in Week 14 against the Dallas Cowboys. "Getting better," Cutler said. "Still got to talk to the doctors, gotta go through some stuff this week. I don't know. I think if we're gonna have any shot at playing, I'm gonna have to practice (this week). I still feel like I'm gonna get back here really soon. I want to play. It's just the trainers and doctors and going through the scenario we've got to go through." Cutler said he ran on a treadmill and felt fine Monday, Dec. 2.
Fantasy Tip: Don't count on Cutler being ready for Monday Night Football. Josh McCown has looked just fine in Cutler's absence and has a nice matchup on hand against the Cowboys, making him a midrange QB1 play.

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (ankle) said he hopes to play Week 14 but has not been cleared to play at this point.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to monitor Cutler's practice participation this week to see if he has any chance to play. If he is able to play, he would be a risky low-end No. 1 quarterback because he is coming back from injury. Josh McCown would get another start if Cutler remains out and should be considered a solid No. 1 quarterback option.
Mon, 25 Nov 2013 11:53:47 -0800
Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman said QB Jay Cutler (ankle) is not expected to play in the team's Week 13 game.
Fantasy Tip: Josh McCown likely will receive another start and can be a starting option for owners this week.

A Chicago Bears source said there is no way that QB Josh McCown could push for QB Jay Cutler's job if he continues to play well. "No, Jay is our quarterback," the team source said.

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler's job is not in jeopardy by the strong play of QB Josh McCown while Cutler works his way back from injury.
Mon, 11 Nov 2013 11:28:37 -0800
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (ankle, groin) is considered week-to-week because of the high ankle sprain he suffered in the team's Week 10 game.
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Josh McCown will start at least this week against the Baltimore Ravens and could get a few more starts depending on Cutler's recovery. McCown should be considered a borderline starting quarterback for desperate owners or as a fill in for bye-week starters.
