Browns | Josh McCown won't be placed on IR

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 19:03:59 -0700

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder) will not be placed on the Reserve/Injured list, so the team expects him to return at some point this season.

Fantasy Tip: While he might be back at some point, he is obviously not someone you want wasting a reserve roster spot in any fantasy format.

Browns | Cleveland on fifth QB in five games

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 17:31:36 -0700

Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler will be the fifth starting quarterback in as many games for the Browns. Going back to the last two weeks of last season, the Browns have started former QBs Johnny Manziel and Austin Davis and QBs Robert Griffin III (shoulder), Josh McCown (shoulder) and now Kessler. Cleveland is the second team since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 to start five different quarterbacks in five straight games, according to Elias.

Fantasy Tip: This is just further proof that the Browns' quarterback position cannot be trusted. The lack of consistency will be a damper to Josh Gordon's fantasy value when he does return, and it hurts the rest of the team, too. Corey Coleman, Gary Barnidge, Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson are still startable, but they're unlikely to reach their ceiling with an unproven rookie quarterback at the helm.

Browns | Fear of serious injury for Josh McCown

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 16:57:14 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens, and the team is bracing themselves for bad news on McCown's shoulder. He will be re-evaluated Monday, Sept. 19.

Fantasy Tip: The Browns lost Robert Griffin III for the season in the first game, and now McCown might be down for the count. Whomever starts under center in Cleveland in Week 3 isn't worth using in fantasy leagues.

Browns | Josh McCown posts solid numbers

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 14:43:18 -0700

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder) went 20-for-33 for 260 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: McCown is dealing with an injury to his non-throwing shoulder but expects to play in Week 3, so owners should monitor the situation. McCown was able to move the ball down the field and could be a starting option in daily fantasy leagues against favorable matchups.

Browns | Josh McCown back on the field

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 10:49:40 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder) has returned to the team's Week 2 game after missing some time because of a shoulder injury.

Fantasy Tip: McCown has thrown for two touchdowns in a little over a quarter in Week 2 and should help the team's passing game. McCown should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in most leagues but can start against favorable matchups.

Browns | Josh McCown dealing with injury

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 10:40:51 -0700

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in Week 2 and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Cody Kessler is the Browns' backup and likely would be next in line to start if McCown missed any time, so owners should keep an eye on McCown's status. Kessler would be no more than a low-end No. 2 quarterback if he starts.

Browns | Gary Barnidge headed for big game?

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 21:45:58 -0700

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge faces the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, and in two games against Baltimore last season, he caught a combined 15 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown. QB Josh McCown started both games.

Fantasy Tip: McCown will be under center this weekend, and while there is no guarantee they can recreate the magic, Barnidge should be treated as a TE1.
