Updating a previous report, the Associated Press reports that Baltimore Ravens CB Corey Fuller was acquitted of all three gambling and gun charges, after being accused of running high-stakes card games at his house. The six-member jury deliberated for less than two hours, before rejecting two days of prosecution testimony. "It's ridiculous how the state and these officers took this charge and ran with it," Fuller said following the court's decision. "I feel sorry for the guys who have been on trial that have no money and can't afford great lawyers."

Ravens | Lawyer Says Fuller Was Targeted

The Associated Press reports Baltimore Ravens CB Corey Fuller was unfairly targeted by a gambling probe because of his celebrity, his attorney told a jury Thursday, Jan. 27. Fuller was arrested last April when police broke up a high-stakes card game at his Tallahassee home. Fuller was charged with maintaining a gambling house, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and misdemeanor gambling. "The evidence is going to show the reason we're here is not what Mr. Fuller did, but who Mr. Fuller is," defense attorney Tim Jansen said in his opening statement. "Their investigation was detailed to target Mr. Fuller." If convicted, Fuller could face a maximum five-year sentence and $5,000 fine.

The Baltimore Sun reports two veteran sheriff's deputies have been fired for guarding the home of Baltimore Ravens DB Corey Fuller while a high-stakes gambling operation was taking place in Tallahassee, Fla. While the deputies had consent to do the job, John Johnson and Derrick Conyers were fired after an internal investigation concluded they had disregarded their own suspicions about the operations happening inside the house. Johnson had been with the department for 10 years, while Conyers had a 17-year tenure.

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome issued a statement in reaction to the Tuesday, April 20, arrest of Ravens CB Corey Fuller. "We're aware of the situation and have spoken with Corey," Newsome said in the statement. "He did tell us that he plays card games at his home with friends and relatives. There is a due process and we believe in that. There are two sides to every story and Corey will have his opportunity to express his side through the court system." Newsome said Fuller intends to participate in a charity basketball game on Friday, April 23, at Florida A&M University, as well as a number of team offseason activities with the Ravens in May and June.

The Associated Press reports Baltimore Ravens CB Corey Fuller and his family were victims of an attempted armed robbery early Wednesday morning, Jan. 21, at their home in Tallahassee, Florida. The intruder forced Fuller into the home and then fled after about 20 shots were exchanged, police said. No one was injured. Fuller is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. "Like the coaches always tell us, nothing good happens at 2 o'clock," Fuller said. "I'm living witness to that."
