Washington Redskins DL Barry Cofield, formerly of the New York Giants, questioned the way the Giants handled some veteran players, opting to part ways rather than re-sign them. The Giants released C Shaun O'Hara and OG Rich Seubert, declined to re-sign LB Chase Blackburn and let TE Kevin Boss and WR Steve E. Smith leave via free agency. "Some other guys I played with, sweat with and bled with, I don't think it was right, the way things went down with them," Cofield said. "A guy that's been there for 10 years like Rich gets hurt and you fire him? That's the best way to put it. And don't forget about Osi (Umenyiora). I don't think that's right either."

Miami Dolphins OG John Jerry is not working with the first-string offense during training camp. The team is using OL Ray Feinga as their starting right guard and seeing the vast majority of the first-team reps. The Dolphins have their eyes set toward the free-agent market for help at guard, too, as they have reached out to OL Shaun O'Hara (Giants), who visited with the team Sunday, July 31.

The New York Giants plan to release G Rich Seubert Thursday, July 28. By cutting Seubert and OL Shaun O'Hara, the Giants will open up almost $6 million and get under the salary cap. The Giants may be willing to bring back one, or both, of them at a lesser cost.

The New York Giants may look to restructure C Shaun O'Hara's contract in order to get some salary cap space. He is scheduled to make $3.45 million this season but underwent surgeries in his ankle and Achilles' tendon this offseason.
