Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Danny Farmer started in the Saturday, Aug. 16 pre-season game against the Detroit Lions. Farmer got the start in place of Bengals WR Peter Warrick, who attended his grandfather's funeral in Florida. Farmer had two receptions for 44 yards Saturday, including a 29-yarder, and has four for 93 yards in the pre-season.

The injury is expected to keep him quiet for a few weeks, but trainer Paul Sparling says he’ll be fine for training camp. "He’s probably just worn out a little bit," WRs coach Steve Mooshagian said. “He’s been coming in here seven days a week to work out and we’ve been running so many three- and four-wides that it always seems like he’s been on the field."

He hasn't been pleased with WR Darnay Scott not taking part in the voluntary workouts and said any combination of the team's four receivers -- Chad Johnson, Danny Farmer, Ron Dugans and T.J. Houshmandzadeh -- behind Scott and fellow starter Peter Warrick could step into the starting lineup if the incumbents don't respond.

CB Artrell Hawkins (ankle) is questionable. OL Willie Anderson (ankle) was pretty sore today but may be able to play this weekend. OL Rich Braham (shoulder) could be an issue for this weekend. Starting SS JoJuan Armour sprained his left ankle and he is probable. TE/long snapper Brad St. Louis re-aggravated his left groin and he is now questionable for Sunday. Trainer Paul Sparling said St. Louis would undergo "a precautionary MRI." TE Kirk McMullen may take his place if he is out. Another option if St. Louis can't go is long snapper Randy Chevrier, signed to the practice squad Tuesday.

CB Rodney Heath (knee) and LB Canute Curtis (calf) practiced Thursday and are expected to be fine to play this Sunday. The Sporting News reports FS Darryl Williams (foot) is questionable and if he can't go, look for Mark Roman to be featured more. C Brock Gutierrez (back) has a bruised lower back and did not practice Wednesday. LB Rial Johnson (ribs) has bruised ribs and is doubtful and will be replaced by backups Adrian Ross and Canute Curtis if he can't go.
