Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Danny Farmer started in the Saturday, Aug. 16 pre-season game against the Detroit Lions. Farmer got the start in place of Bengals WR Peter Warrick, who attended his grandfather's funeral in Florida. Farmer had two receptions for 44 yards Saturday, including a 29-yarder, and has four for 93 yards in the pre-season.

As an update to previous reports, Bengals.com reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Danny Farmer (knee) is expected to be out for five games after suffering a high-grade sprain of the PCL in his left knee during practice Wednesday. Trainer Paul Sparling said he expects Farmer to return after the team’s bye in week 7, and anything before then would be a bonus.

The injury is expected to keep him quiet for a few weeks, but trainer Paul Sparling says he’ll be fine for training camp. "He’s probably just worn out a little bit," WRs coach Steve Mooshagian said. “He’s been coming in here seven days a week to work out and we’ve been running so many three- and four-wides that it always seems like he’s been on the field."

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports the Cincinnati Bengals could have some new starting receivers this year according to offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski. He hasn't been pleased with WR Darnay Scott not taking part in the voluntary workouts and said any combination of the team's four receivers -- Chad Johnson, Danny Farmer, Ron Dugans and T.J. Houshmandzadeh -- behind Scott and fellow starter Peter Warrick could step into the starting lineup if the incumbents don't respond.

Bengals.com reports Cincinnati Bengals DB Bo Jennings (sprained ankle) was pretty sore on Monday and wouldn't have been able to play had there been a game today. CB Artrell Hawkins (ankle) is questionable. OL Willie Anderson (ankle) was pretty sore today but may be able to play this weekend. OL Rich Braham (shoulder) could be an issue for this weekend. DE Vaughn Booker (various bumps and bruises) and WR Danny Farmer (ankle) should both be ready to return.

Long snapper Randy Chevrier will be the long snapper on special teams. “He has snapped in the NFL. We like that,” coach Dick LeBeau said of Chevrier. “He's got the most velocity. We like that.”

Geoff Hobson reports for Bengals.com the team had a rough day at practice earlier today. Reserve WR Danny Farmer (sprained ankle) is now doubtful for Sunday's game. Starting SS JoJuan Armour sprained his left ankle and he is probable. TE/long snapper Brad St. Louis re-aggravated his left groin and he is now questionable for Sunday. Trainer Paul Sparling said St. Louis would undergo "a precautionary MRI." TE Kirk McMullen may take his place if he is out. Another option if St. Louis can't go is long snapper Randy Chevrier, signed to the practice squad Tuesday.

The Cincinnati Post reports with Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Johnson (collarbone) out for at least the next six weeks, WR Peter Warrick is bound to see more throws come his way. WRs Ron Dugans and Danny Farmer will be given increased roles. Neither has explosive speed, but both are excellent possession receivers.

The Cincinnati Post reports WR Danny Farmer (knee) states he feels he can now play but is not sure if he will be activated. CB Rodney Heath (knee) and LB Canute Curtis (calf) practiced Thursday and are expected to be fine to play this Sunday. The Sporting News reports FS Darryl Williams (foot) is questionable and if he can't go, look for Mark Roman to be featured more. C Brock Gutierrez (back) has a bruised lower back and did not practice Wednesday. LB Rial Johnson (ribs) has bruised ribs and is doubtful and will be replaced by backups Adrian Ross and Canute Curtis if he can't go.

QB Scott Mitchell was named the No. 3 QB for today's game behind starter Jon Kitna and No. 2 Akili Smith. The Bengals deactivated QB Scott Covington Sunday for the game, as well as RB Rudi Johnson, OL Jamain Stephens and Victor Leyva, WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh and DL Mario Monds.
