According to Comcast SportsNet, the Eagles and Chicago Bears are the teams on that list, but the Eagles already have rebuffed the Broncos' first demand, backup TE Matt Schobel, in exchange for Lelie. As previously reported, the Broncos have given Lelie and his agent, Peter Schaffer, permission to seek a trade. However, if he does not report to camp Monday, Aug. 14, Lelie's hiatus will have cost him $266,000.

Number one, he's doing an excellent job of separating. He creates separations, he's very athletic, so he's doing a nice job there. Certainly, he needs to catch the ball on a consistent basis. The second thing, now, if you catch the football, it gives you a chance to play for us. If you don't catch the football, you're not playing. It's as simple as that. Now, we are early in camp, again, we are right in the middle of installation and whatever the reasons are for, and I'm not talking just one guy, I'm talking all positions that catch the football, we've got to get it straightened out real quick."

Reuben Frank, of Phillyburbs.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles TE L.J. Smith is looking to play one solid year of good football. In 2005, Smith was among the top tight ends in the NFL with 34 catches for 350 yards in the team's first six games. After that, QB Donovan McNabb's sports hernia grew worse and eventually ended his season and WR Terrell Owens was suspended. The last 10 games, the Eagles went 2-8 and Smith caught just 27 passes for 332 yards. Smith is entering his fourth NFL season, once again striving to elevate himself into the NFL's elite. Only six tight ends in the league had more than his eight catches of 20 or more yards last season. The Eagles signed veteran TE Matt Schobel to take some pressure off Smith, who's been the Eagles' only real receiving threat since TE Chad Lewis got hurt in the 2004 NFC Championship Game.
