ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Cincinnati Bengals have released veteran FS Darryl Williams. By releasing Williams, the team will save $1.21 million against the salary cap this year.

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports the Cincinnati Bengals will kick off the start of battles at their safety positions during their upcoming minicamp. At free safety, Lamont Thompson, Marquand Manuel, Darryl Williams and Mark Roman are expected to battle. Former starting free safety Cory Hall moves over to battle with JoJuan Armour at strong safety.

Geoff Hobson reports for Bengals.com backup FS Darryl Williams has suffered a foot injury. He's expected to be in a walking boot for a bit. Trainer Paul Sparling said there is a chance Williams would be cleared to practice when the Bengals gather for their first 2002 workouts the weekend of May 3-6. “We aren’t even calling him up here to get examined, so obviously we don’t think it’s that big of a thing,” Sparling said.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Cincinnati Bengals CB Tom Carter was downgraded to questionable on the team's injury report with a knee injury. The team may sign CB Kevin Kaesviharn from the practice squad to provide more depth in the secondary for tomorrow's game. Safeties Cory Hall and Chris Carter have been working this week at cornerback in case they're needed in an emergency. S Darryl Williams was held out of Friday's practice, but he's expected to play Sunday. DE Vaughn Booker, who's listed as questionable with an ankle injury, did practice Friday and will “play a lot,” coach Dick LeBeau said.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Cincinnati Bengals C Rich Braham (neck) made it through Sunday's game without incident. He said after the game he felt "99 percent" better than last week at San Diego. Braham played all 55 offensive snaps. LB Adrian Ross (strained right quad), who missed today's second half, is questionable for next week's game. LB Riall Johnson is probable for next week with a rib injury. Starting DT Tony Williams was taken for X-rays on his sprained foot in the first half but returned to the game. He is probable for Cleveland next week. S Darryl Williams is probable for next week with a foot injury.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Cincinnati Bengals stating C Rich Braham made it through practice yesterday, despite a sore neck and he should be ready to go for Sunday. S Darryl Williams, who has an injured foot, did not practice Friday. He may be a game day decision. Backup C Brock Gutierrez's condition with three small broken bones in his lower back also improved this week.

The Cincinnati Bengals official site reports S Darryl Williams (sprain) is expected to be back at practice this week after being deactivated last week because his foot sprain didn't respond well. It was the first time in six seasons with the club that Williams was deactivated.

Bengals.com reports Cincinnati Bengals S Darryl Williams (foot) is listed as probable for the Steelers game after sitting out yesterday's game against San Diego with a bruised foot. LB Riall Johnson (ribs) is questionable against the Steelers with bruised ribs. He will be re-evaluated later this week.
