Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports the Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with S Lamont Thompson on a long-term contract. He will sign a five-year deal. He was initially scheduled to play this season under his one-year tender from the team.

Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese continues to work on a long-term deal for S Lamont Thompson. Reese said he expects Thompson to be on the field when training camp begins even if a new deal isn't in place.

The Nashville City Paper reports the Tennessee Titans are discussing a long-term contract for S Lamont Thompson. Thompson's agent Michael Sullivan sent Titans general manager Floyd Reese an initial proposal for a contract extension for Thompson last week. Thompson had been given the low tender of $565,000 by the Titans earlier in the offseason, but they also were thinking about a long-term deal.

Gary Glenn, of TitansOnline.com, reports Tennessee Titans FS Lamont Thompson is ready to take over the leadership role in the secondary following the release of S Lance Schulters. "I wouldn't have it any other way," said Thompson. "It's unfortunate that we had to lose a player, but I'm definitely going to have to fill a much bigger role and I'm ready to do that."

"We expect him to be a little more productive at the position," Fisher said. "He did make plays at each one of the positions that he played. But it will be nice for him just to settle into one position and take command of the defense."
