The pending retirement of PK Gary Anderson and last year's retirement of St. Louis Rams P Sean Landeta have left the Cardinal veteran as the lone remaining player to use the single (or one-bar) helmet. Player started wearing the "one-bar" when he joined the league in 1998 and doesn't apologize for his taste in equipment. "I got into a bad habit (with other mask styles) of holding the ball too high and it affected by kicks," Player said. "But with the 'one-bar', there's nothing blocking my vision, the ball or what's in front of me."

ESPN.com reports security personnel at Sun Devil Stadium had to enter the locker room in order to seek out Arizona Cardinals P Scott Player to enter Sunday's, Dec. 14, game for a final punt before halftime after Player had mistakenly left the field thinking the half had ended. The delay was minimal and Player got the punt off without a return.

Player received a $450,000 signing bonus and a raise in this year's salary from $600,000 to $731,000. Player will make $600,000 and $700,000 the next two seasons.

Head coach Dave McGinnis said Kendall told him he's closer to playing this weekend than he is to being out for the season as some previous reports stated. X-rays have been sent of to another physician in New York and they're awaiting an update on them. P Scott Player (ankle) practiced again Wednesday and will be ready to punt this weekend.

Arizona Cardinals P Scott Player sprained his ankle during today's game. He was able to continue punting, although PK Bill Gramatica punted once for him. Gramatica dislocated his shoulder trying to make a tackle on the game's opening kickoff, but he remained in the game.

The Arizona Cardinals, according to their official site, have tendered restricted free agent RB Michael Pittman and OT Anthony Clement at the $1.115 million level meaning they carry a first round draft pick as compensation if another team signs them. CB Corey Chavous, TE Terry Hardy, P Scott Player, S Pat Tillman and LB Zack Walz have all been tendered at $512,000. S Justin Lucas, TE/WR Tywan Mitchell, and C Jason Starkey, the team's exclusive-rights free agents were tendered as well and Lucas and Mitchell already signed their contracts.

According to their official site, the Chicago Bears have allocated 10 players to NFL Europe. They are: P Brent Bartholomew, CB Todd McMillon, OC Brad Williams, RB Brian Edwards, WRs Corey Bridges, Ahmad Merritt and Gerald Williams, SS Pedro Cirino, CB Lamar Grant, and DT Jerome King. Bartholomew should be pleased to learn that both of last season's Pro Bowl punters, Arizona's Scott Player and San Diego's Darren Bennett, previously played in NFL Europe.
