The Associated Press reports New York Giants RB Curtis Keaton will be considered for returning punts. Keaton has returned 48 kickoffs and averaged 20.8 yards a return in three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and New Orleans Saints. Keaton returned kickoffs in drills on Monday, Aug. 9.

Brian Allee-Walsh, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints head coach Jim Haslett said the offensive line could have played better in the Monday, August 11 pre-season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, but Saints RB Curtis Keaton missed some openings and failed to convert on two third-and-one plays. "I didn't think our line was as physical as we would have liked," Haslett said. "But we haven't had our line together yet as a whole. We haven't had much continuity."

Jeff Duncan, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports for the Sporting News that New Orleans Saints RB Curtis Keaton needs to show improvement in training camp this year to gain the confidence of the coaching staff. If he fails to improve, the team may look for a veteran running back in free agency.

The Times Picayune reports the New Orleans Saints have signed street free agent RB Tavian Banks to a one-year contract. Banks has not played since suffering a severe knee injury in 1999, but he worked out for the Saints on Friday and passed his physical. He will compete with James Fenderson for the third running-back spot behind RB Deuce McAllister and backup RB Curtis Keaton.
