Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Rams' contract talks with unrestricted free-agent QB Gus Frerotte (Vikings) have fallen through because of Frerotte's concern the team will draft a quarterback in the 2009 NFL Draft, according to people familiar with the negotiations. The Rams and Frerotte have agreed to wait until after the draft to restart negotiations.

"I was only in the offense for six months, so I should get a lot better with another year under my belt," Frerotte said. "I think I've earned the right to be a starter. It wasn't handed to me. I went in and played well and gave everything I had to the team." Frerotte was 8-3 as a starter last season.

Sports, reports Minnesota Vikings QB Gus Frerotte, who is pondering his future, felt he was the best option at quarterback for the team and should have started the team's playoff game. "I just don't know what to think right now. It was a very frustrating experience, because I felt like I should've been the one playing," Frerotte said. "That might sound selfish, but I think I would've given us the best chance to win. I'm going home to St. Louis (on Monday) to be with my family and figure out where things stand, but the way things played out at the end really makes me question things."
