Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Rams' contract talks with unrestricted free-agent QB Gus Frerotte (Vikings) have fallen through because of Frerotte's concern the team will draft a quarterback in the 2009 NFL Draft, according to people familiar with the negotiations. The Rams and Frerotte have agreed to wait until after the draft to restart negotiations.

Sid Hartman, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings QB Gus Frerotte believes he has earned an opportunity to start for the team in 2009. "I was only in the offense for six months, so I should get a lot better with another year under my belt," Frerotte said. "I think I've earned the right to be a starter. It wasn't handed to me. I went in and played well and gave everything I had to the team." Frerotte was 8-3 as a starter last season.
