The Associated Press reports the New York Giants' defense has performed well so far this preseason. They appeared to be on pace for a second straight shutout Friday, Aug. 25, but P Travis Dorsch's punt was blocked by New York Jets LB Darrell McClover and returned 26 yards for a touchdown. The team's defense has not allowed a touchdown since the opening series against the Baltimore Ravens in the first preseason game. The team notched five sacks Friday, with several more knockdowns and three forced turnovers.

David Porter, of the Associated Press, reports New York Giants P Jeff Feagles is limiting his workload in training camp to prevent from kicking too much. Feagles compared being a punter to being a pitcher and added, "You just can't kick too many balls or it's counterproductive." Feagles limits himself between 35 and 40 kicks per day, including warmups, while P Travis Dorsch handles some of his workload.

Michael Eisen, of Giants.com, reports New York Giants P Jeff Feagles has decided he will not retire and he will return for the 2006 season with the team. Feagles will soon fly to New Jersey to participate in some offseason conditioning program workouts. He will attend the June minicamp and, of course, report on time for training camp in Albany. Unlike the past two seasons, when he was the only punter in camp, the Giants will reduce his workload by using P Travis Dorsch, who is currently punting for the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe.

"Going into the game, I didn't think there was a competition," head coach Mike Tice said, indicating that he expected Bennett to handily win the job. "He's taught me to teach myself," Dorsch says. "Last year, I was just trying to be an athlete and kick the ball as high and as far as possible. Geoff Hobson reports for Bengals.com the race between PKs Neil Rackers and rookie Travis Dorsch for the Cincinnati Bengals place-kicking job is still very close. However, the loser of the battle will likely be cut. With Dorsch leading off, they will both kick in Thursday night’s pre-season finale against the Falcons. "If there was a leader, they both wouldn’t be here," said President Mike Brown during Monday’s practice. "We’ve been happy with them and we talked about keeping both. But it’s very difficult to keep two kickers. The only reason teams do that is if one isn’t long enough (for kickoffs or field goals.) But both these guys are long, so you wouldn’t need two of them."
