The AP reports former Pittsburgh Steelers OT John Jackson officially retired Monday. He played with the Steelers from 1988-1997. Jackson split the next three seasons between the San Diego Chargers, and the Cincinnati Bengals. He was out of the NFL last season.

Updating an earlier story, the Ap reports OT John Jackson called the Pittsburgh Steelers to tell them he was not going to attend his retirement news conference. The Steelers weren't sure whether Jackson changed his mind about retiring.

The Cincinnati Post reports while former Cincinnati Bengals OT John Jackson had yet to practice in training camp, his biggest value and what the team will miss most from him is his experience with and knowledge of the game. Bengals rookie OT Levi Jones was learning a lot under Jackson’s wings, before the team released him Sunday. “He was a guy who helped me out and gave me a lot of insight,” Jones said.

Geoff Hobson reports for Bengals.com OT John Jackson was back at training camp Wednesday. He was cleared of any heart problems Monday when he underwent an angiogram. "I’m ready to play football,” he said. However, he still has about two weeks of healing in front of him before he can practice with the team.

Updating previous reports, the Cincinnati Post reports Cincinnati Bengals OT John Jackson (heart) will miss at least the next two weeks of practice due to tests coming back marginally abnormal. He’ll undergo an angiogram on Monday to determine if what, if any, action needs to be taken.

Associated Press reports Cincinnati Bengals OT John Jackson will have his heart checked out at a hospital. Two stress tests on Friday showed slightly abnormal results and Jackson’s family has a history of heart problems.
