Bears | Tarik Cohen working on receiving skills

Thu, 19 Apr 2018 07:49:32 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen has focused on improving his skills as a receiver and route running this offseason. Head coach Matt Nagy said the team plans to move him around and do different things with him.

Fantasy Tip: Cohen will be an interesting RB3 option in PPR formats, but he presents some uncertainty along with upside. Jordan Howard figures to see a large workload running the ball, which means Cohen could slip in drafts.

Bears | Tarik Cohen has added weight

Wed, 18 Apr 2018 11:23:30 -0700

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen is up to 190 pounds after bulking up this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Cohen is petite as far as NFL running backs are concerned, but he is as speedy and shifty as they come. He quickly came on to the scene in his rookie season, particularly in the passing game and on special teams. With Jordan Howard hogging most of the carries in Chicago, Cohen is a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 candidate in PPR formats.

Bears | Tarik Cohen wants to make plays

Sat, 24 Feb 2018 19:27:36 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen said he can do "the same kinds of things" as Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill, and he feels he will develop into a playmaker under offensive coordinator Matt Nagy.

Fantasy Tip: Nagy was the offensive coordinator for the Chiefs last year, so if there's anyone who should be able to maximize Cohen's speed and versatility, it's Nagy. Cohen flashed at times in 2017, and he projects as a RB4 with upside, especially in PPR formats, heading into next season.

Bears | Week 17 game recap for Bears

Sun, 31 Dec 2017 13:40:59 -0800

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky completed 20-of-36 pass attempts for 178 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 17 against the Minnesota Vikings. RB Tarik Cohen rushed for 13 yards on three yards, which actually led the team, while RB Jordan Howard ran nine times for nine yards. WR Dontrelle Inman led the team with 94 yards on five receptions, while WR Josh Bellamy chipped in with a 30-yard grab on his only catch. WR Kendall Wright wrapped up the season with five snags for 29 yards, while Cohen finished with a team-high six receptions but just 14 yards.

Bears | Tarik Cohen held in check

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 13:44:02 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen rushed for nine yards on two carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16. He also caught two passes for 12 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Cohen has been pretty quiet over the last two weeks and will have a tough matchup in Week 17. Owners may want to keep him on the bench and look for other options next week.

Bears | Tarik Cohen with 14 total touches

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 15:28:31 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen rushed 12 times for a career-high 80 yards in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals and he added two receptions for five yards.

Fantasy Tip: Cohen had double-digit rush attempts for the first time since Week 6 in Baltimore, and his higher usage was mostly due to the lopsided nature of the game in his team's road win. Jordan Howard was amazing in this one and Cohen isn't unseating him anytime soon.

Bears | Tarik Cohen making history

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 11:19:36 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen is the first rookie since Hall-of-Famer Gale Sayers in 1965 to have a punt return for a touchdown, rushing touchdown, receiving touchdown and passing touchdown in the same season. Additionally, he is the first player - rookie or veteran - to pull off this feat since Terry Metcalf in 1975.

Fantasy Tip: Cohen has 107 offensive touches this season, but the Bears haven't come close to using him enough offensively. In an offense with a rookie quarterback like Mitchell Trubisky running the show and Dontrelle Inman serving as the top receiver, Cohen should probably be seeing Christian McCaffrey-like involvement. Instead, he has 23 catches in his last 10 games after beginning his career with back-to-back eight-reception efforts. Until that changes, he is bench depth at best in fantasy.

Bears | Tarik Cohen totals 44 yards

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 15:00:48 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen rushed twice for five yards in Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers and he added four receptions for a team-high 39 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: The Bears really need to figure out ways to get the ball in Cohen's hands more, as he is an exciting playmaker out of the backfield catching the ball. Still, he is nothing more than a RB4 in most fantasy leagues until he starts totaling more touches.

Bears | Tarik Cohen totals 13 touches

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 13:50:41 -0800

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen rushed nine times for 44 yards and a touchdown in Week 11 against the Detroit Lions and he added four receptions for 15 yards on a team-high six targets.

Fantasy Tip: Cohen totaled 13 touches to 15 for Jordan Howard, but the starter Howard was far more productive with 8.3 yards per carry including a 50-yard scamper and a 12-yard scoring run.

Bears | Tarik Cohen drawing significant attention

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 21:30:38 -0800

Chicago Bears OC Dowell Loggains indicated that teams have been defending RB Tarik Cohen with cornerbacks or even double teaming the rookie in the passing game. The comments were made during Loggins' press conference Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Cohen's lack of involvement and production have been a source of consternation among fantasy owners, and the question of Cohen's role was broached with both Loggains and John Fox. Whatever other teams are doing, it would behoove the Bears to get Cohen the ball given the lack of big-play talent on offense in Chicago. Until they do, however, it's better to keep Cohen moored to your bench.
