Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals DT Oliver Gibson (Achilles) has fully recovered from his Achilles injury suffered last year and he has not experienced any lingering pain in practice thus far. "The only time I thought about is when we got to the line drill," Gibson said. "And once the ball was snapped, I forgot about it. Which is what I want to do. I knew I could push off with it. I didn't think about it. It feels strong."

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals DT Oliver Gibson (Achilles') stated that "there's no question in my mind" that he will be at full-speed for training camp. He's also convinced he'll be ready for the team's June minicamp. Gibson is coming off surgery to repair a blown Achilles' tendon last season.

Gibson said he’s still moving around pretty well and he’s planning to work the weight off during the summer. Defensive Coordinator Mike Duffner agrees with Gibson saying he came in heavier but stronger and with a great attitude as far as being the catalyst for their defense. Gibson estimates he came in weighing 330 pounds but said he wants to play at 315 pounds this year.

He figures he’s on the way out after the signing of fellow DE Kevin Henry. "Somebody has to go," said Copeland of a defensive line that has added players via free agency. The Bengals have added Henry and DT Tony Williams to a mix that already includes a group of 2000 starters in DE Vaughn Booker and DTs Oliver Gibson and Tom Barndt. Defensive coordinator Mark Duffner said it's too soon for Copeland to be thinking that way. Releasing Copeland before June 1 would save the club about $2.1 million under the salary cap.

Bengals president Mike Brown thinks he can take advantage of other teams being "cap strapped" while the Bengals are in good shape cap-wise. Team insiders say it’s the most aggressive stance Brown has taken on the eve of free agency. The team's free agent needs are just like the NFL Drafr: a pass rusher, a run stuffer to team with Oliver Gibson, and a big, speedy WR to complement Darnay Scott and Peter Warrick. Depending on their own free agents re-signing or not, a backup QB and offensive linemen could be key as well.

The Cincinnati Post is reporting the Bengals have agreed to a contract with Steelers Free Agent DT Oliver Gibson. The deal will be for three-years, $3.6 million and should be signed on Monday pending a physical by Gibson. "Oliver wanted to go there from the start,' Gibson's agent, David Levine, said. "He knows the system. He knows defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau. It's a good fit." The signing is expected to end the Jerry Ball to the Bengals talk. Ball will reportedly now look at Jacksonville and Baltimore. The Bengals are expected to once again focus on CBs Ashely Ambrose and Corey Sawyer.
