Cardinals | Chad Williams called out

Tue, 01 Aug 2017 19:38:24 -0700

Arizona Cardinals rookie WR Chad Williams has drawn the ire of head coach Bruce Arians for a lack of conditioning. "Until he gets in better condition, he won't have a role. He is big, strong and can catch. He's still feeling his way," Arians said.

Fantasy Tip: Countless times in countless NFL cities every year, at least one rookie hears something similar from his head coach. While he has minimal redraft value and figures to be a fixture on the waiver wire in most leagues this year, he was drafted this spring with an eye toward replacing Larry Fitzgerald when the future Hall-of-Famer decides to retire. He is a solid third-round pick in rookie drafts or a good buy-low for the majority of dynasty leagues that have already held them.

Cardinals | Chad Williams likely No. 5 WR in 2017

Tue, 20 Jun 2017 20:51:05 -0700

Arizona Cardinals third-round WR Chad Williams will likely begin the season as the team's fifth receiver, according to 98.7 Arizona's Mike Jurecki.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a big surprise despite the early hype he has generated, considering the Cardinals have a reputation recently of not getting much out of their rookie class and the fact Arizona has Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown, J.J. Nelson and Jaron Brown ahead of him on the depth chart. He is being groomed as Fitzgerald's replacement, however, so he should have significant value in 2018 and beyond.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald impressed by Chad Williams

Tue, 30 May 2017 19:49:20 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams received some lofty praise from a likely Hall-of-Famer Tuesday, May 30, as WR Larry Fitzgerald said the third-round pick reminds him of former teammate Anquan Boldin in terms of the strength of their hands. "He's reminds me of Anquan Boldin in terms of the strength of his hands. Once it touches his hands, it just doesn't move. He's got unbelievably strong hands," Fitzgerald said of Williams.

Fantasy Tip: Obviously, this is high praise and probably enough to skyrocket Williams' stock in redraft and dynasty formats. The Cardinals could use another big body at receiver besides Fitzgerald and Williams might be that guy, especially considering the team wants to groom the rookie to take over for aging vet when he retires. With Fitzgerald and John Brown most likely to play starring roles this year, expect Williams to take more of a back seat this season before emerging as a regular fantasy starter in 2018 and beyond.

Cardinals | Big things expected from Chad Williams

Fri, 12 May 2017 19:04:36 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Chad Williams is considered someone who can "carry the torch" once WR Larry Fitzgerald decides to retire, according to offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin.

Fantasy Tip: Williams probably won't contribute a lot this year, but he could find himself with a much bigger role in the offense as soon as 2018. He should be owned in all keeper formats.
