The Post Gazette reports the Pittsburgh Steelers will take a look at free agent LS Brian Kinchen on Friday. He could be signed as the team's new long-snapper, if they don't feel TE John Allred can get the job done. As noted earlier, current LS Mike Schneck could miss up to six weeks of action. The team also took a look earlier this week at LS/TE Mike Leach and LS/DT Randy Chevrier.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Danny Farmer may not be able to play tomorrow due to an ankle injury he suffered Wednesday. Long snapper Randy Chevrier will be the long snapper on special teams. “He has snapped in the NFL. We like that,” coach Dick LeBeau said of Chevrier. “He's got the most velocity. We like that.”

Geoff Hobson reports for Bengals.com the team had a rough day at practice earlier today. Reserve WR Danny Farmer (sprained ankle) is now doubtful for Sunday's game. Starting SS JoJuan Armour sprained his left ankle and he is probable. TE/long snapper Brad St. Louis re-aggravated his left groin and he is now questionable for Sunday. Trainer Paul Sparling said St. Louis would undergo "a precautionary MRI." TE Kirk McMullen may take his place if he is out. Another option if St. Louis can't go is long snapper Randy Chevrier, signed to the practice squad Tuesday.

The Houston Chronicle reports Dallas Cowboys PK Tim Seder sprained his right (kicking) ankle on a play in the third quarter of today's game. With Dallas ahead 13-10, Cowboys long snapper Randy Chevrier sailed a snap over the head and through the outstretched hands of holder Micah Knorr. Seder tried to scoop up the ball and run. Replays showed Seder was on the ground and no threat when hit by Falcons DL Travis Hall.

The Star-Telegram, updating an earlier story, reports the Dallas Cowboys have successfully claimed long-snapper/DT Randy Chevrier off waivers from Jacksonville. To make a roster spot for Chevrier, the team waived Mike Solwold, who spent less than one week with the team after being signed as a free agent cut loose by Minnesota.

Bart Hubbuch reports for the Times-Union the Jacksonville Jaguars have reached a contract agreement with one of their seventh-round draft picks, DL/long snapper Randy Chevrier on a three-year contract. Chevrier will get $13,000 to sign and $8,000 guaranteed in the first year of the contract.

John Oehser reports for the Times-Union early feedback on the Jaksonville Jaguars first-round draft pick, DT Marcus Stroud, has been positive. DT Seth Payne, expected to compete in training camp with Stroud, said Stroud does not have an ego, works hard, is eager to learn and has been impressive. Rookie long-snapper Randy Chevrier, who is from Canada, was chosen No.5 overall by the Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL draft last Thursday. Chevrier has decided to stay with the Jaguars for a shot at the NFL. "This is where I want to make my home," Chevrier said Saturday. WR Keenan McCardell missed Saturday morning's practice after slipping and sustaining a minor left knee injury Friday afternoon. He returned to practice Saturday afternoon.

The National Post reports Randy Chevrier, a 24-year-old defensive lineman and long-snapper from McGill University in Canada, had a workout with the Indianapolis Colts last week. During the off-season, he survived being stabbed in a bar fight at a bar where he was working as a bouncer. Chevrier is a 6-foot-2, 290-pound player who is hoping to follow former college teammate Jean-Philippe Darche (Seattle) to the NFL. He also hopes to possibly be drafted at the NFL Draft in April.
