Packers | Jamaal Williams expected to be fine

Fri, 17 Aug 2018 10:47:32 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams (ankle) is "fine" after departing a preseason game with an ankle sprain on Thursday, Aug. 16, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Williams led the Packers in rushing yards (556) and total touches (178) last season as a rookie and is expected to open the season as Green Bay’s lead back with backfield mate Aaron Jones serving a substance-abuse suspension in Weeks 1 and 2. A committee approach, though, most likely looms in the long run with Ty Montgomery also in the mix, and Williams should be drafted as a RB3.

Packers | Jamaal Williams injured

Thu, 16 Aug 2018 18:28:52 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is part of a three-player competition of the starting running back job, so any time missed would hurt his chances. He likely will be part of a committee and may only be a No. 3 or No. 4 running back in standard leagues.

Packers | Green Bay to use committee at RB

Mon, 18 Jun 2018 10:25:14 -0700

Green Bay Packers RBs Ty Montgomery, Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones will be part of a committee at running back this upcoming season, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy said the team will be able to adjust if one of the running backs shows they can be the full-time starter.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation during the preseason to see how each running back is used. Montgomery probably is the best receiver out of the three, but Williams and Jones are also decent receivers. All three will have value in fantasy leagues but none will be more than No. 3 running backs unless one takes over the starting job.

Packers | Ty Montgomery to have big role?

Mon, 11 Jun 2018 13:06:46 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery seems to be set for a big role in 2018, according to ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky. Head coach Mike McCarthy said the offense is suited for Montgomery's skill set and the Packers need to take advantage of that. Nevertheless, McCarthy admitted that he will continue to take a committee approach with the backfield with RBs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams included.

Fantasy Tip: Green Bay's backfield will be one of the tougher backfields to figure out this offseason. Each of the three running backs flashed at different points in 2017. They can all bring something to the table, but Jones appears to have the most upside. Either way, none of them should be drafted as higher than an RB2.

Packers | Jamaal Williams seeking to get faster

Mon, 22 Jan 2018 22:34:37 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams conceded that in his exit interviews with head coach Mike McCarthy and running backs coach Ben Sirmans, "We were just in agreement that I've got to get my feet quicker and just get a little more speed happening and make sure that my knees are up. So, I'm just going to be working on my lateral movements, speed, make sure I get my knees up, make sure my lower body's a lot stronger."

Fantasy Tip: Williams flashed some interesting potential in his rookie season, ultimately leading the team in rushing with 556 yards while also adding four touchdowns. However, he needed 153 rush attempts to garner that yardage -- good for just 3.6 yards per carry -- so it won't be an easy path to reclaim the starting job with Ty Montgomery (wrist) and Aaron Jones (knee) returning to full health. Whoever is Green Bay's starting running back going into next year will hold notable value considering Aaron Rodgers will be healthy to begin the campaign.

Packers | Jamaal Williams likely for bulk of work

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 14:42:40 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams is likely to handle a bulk of the workload in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions with RB Aaron Jones (knee) unlikely to play.

Fantasy Tip: Williams should be a decent RB3 or flex fantasy option for leagues deciding their league champion in the final weekend, while Devante Mays might see snaps as his backup.

Packers | Jamaal Williams unspectacular in loss

Sat, 23 Dec 2017 21:21:32 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams rushed 15 times for 58 yards in a 16-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Williams continues to serve as the lead back, but his value is capped by the inconsistent play of Brett Hundley and the offense as a whole. He receives enough touches to be used as a flex play, but he will need to find the end zone to creep into RB2 territory.
