Packers | Jamaal Williams works with top unit

Sat, 05 Aug 2017 18:23:01 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams shared snaps with RB Ty Montgomery with the first-team offense Saturday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Montgomery figures to be the lead back, but Williams could provide the thunder to Montgomery's lightning and potentially see some carries around the goal line. Consider him a RB4 candidate.

Packers | Jamaal Williams could push Ty Montgomery

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 12:06:30 -0700

Green Bay Packers rookie RB Jamaal Williams is the most likely of the rookie running backs on the team to push Ty Montgomery for the starting job, according to offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett, who added Williams has earned work with the first team due to his ability to pass protect.

Fantasy Tip: Pass protection is perhaps Montgomery's biggest weakness, so this is something to keep an eye on moving forward. The most likely scenario for Green Bay this year is Montgomery serving as the lead back and pushing 200 touches, while Williams could serve as the change-of-pace and possibly handle goal-line work. It is still very much a fluid situation, albeit one ripe with plenty of fantasy upside.

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams said he "likes to bruise" and believes he can help wear down defenses in the third and fourth quarters of games.

Packers | Jamaal Williams will be No. 2 back

Thu, 20 Jul 2017 10:14:15 -0700

Green Bay Packers rookie RB Jamaal Williams will begin training camp as the No. 2 running back behind RB Ty Montgomery, according to running backs coach Ben Sirmans.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is one of the more promising rookie running backs heading into 2017. Montgomery played well as a running back last year, so Williams will really have to prove himself in order to see significant playing time. Use a late-round pick on the rookie and possibly an earlier selection for those who own Montgomery.

Packers | Jamaal Williams signs rookie contract

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 10:08:47 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams signed his four-year rookie deal Thursday, June 1. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Green Bay's starting running back job is Ty Montgomery's to lose, but don't count out Williams in the long haul. Williams has an NFL physique and the determination to succeed at the next level. For those who draft Montgomery, Williams makes sense as a mid- to late-round handcuff.

Packers | Green Bay drafts Jamaal Williams

Sat, 29 Apr 2017 10:39:10 -0700

The Green Bay Packers selected BYU RB Jamaal Williams at No. 134 in the 2017 NFL Draft Saturday, April 29.

Fantasy Tip: It is believed Williams will compete right away with Don Jackson and Christine Michael for a role in the backfield. Given Williams' size of 6-foot, 212 pounds, he could be the thunder to Ty Montgomery's lightning. Watch Williams during training camp and preseason play for clarity on his fantasy role. He could surprise as a fringe flex choice.
