Texans | Deshaun Watson has surgery Tuesday

Tue, 07 Nov 2017 10:32:10 -0800

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (knee) underwent surgery Tuesday, Nov. 7, to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in his right knee during practice last week.

Fantasy Tip: Watson is expected to need the customary eight to nine months to recover, but if there is any good news to come from this bit of news, it is the fact he was able to have the surgery less than a week after the injury, as sometimes swelling in the knee delays the procedure. Watson is a good bet to be a full-go by training camp next summer and will likely be considered a high-end QB1 when he is cleared.

Texans | Deshaun Watson could need nine months to recover

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 07:56:18 -0800

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (knee) is expected to need eight to nine months to recover from his torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to a source. However, the last time he sustained the injury, he was able to return to action in five months.

Fantasy Tip: It appears as though Watson will miss organized team activities during the offseason but could be ready in time for training camp. He should be viewed as a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy football leagues next year. Tom Savage is serving as the Texans' starter in Watson's absence but he possesses little value in any fantasy format.

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Nov. 3. The team also signed QB T.J. Yates (Bills). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Texans | Deshaun Watson suffers serious injury

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 14:02:23 -0700

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (knee) is believed to have suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament on a non-contact play in practice Thursday, Nov. 2, according to sources. He could miss the remainder of the season, but will have an MRI to confirm the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Watson was headed for Rookie of the Year honors and was even in the MVP conversation. This is a huge blow to what has been a prolific offense. Tom Savage figures to take Watson's place, but he is several rungs down from Watson on the quarterback ladder. Everyone on Houston's offense takes a hit in fantasy value, namely DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller and Lamar Miller.

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will know more about Watson's status after practice Friday, Nov. 3, so they should monitor the situation. He has been one of the best fantasy quarterbacks in the NFL this season and would be a No. 1 quarterback this week if he is active.

Texans | DeShaun Watson tosses four TDs

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 19:01:58 -0700

Houston Texans QB DeShaun Watson completed 19 of his 30 passes for a career-high 402 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions in the Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Watson and Russell Wilson were in an old-fashioned shootout in Seattle, as both went over 400 yards with four scoring tosses. The rookie has two or more touchdown strikes in each of his past five games, and three or more TDs in each of the past four. He might be the top fantasy option at quarterback heading into Week 9 against the struggling Indianapolis Colts.

Texans | Deshaun Watson tied for rookie history

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 18:53:38 -0700

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson is tied with retired QBs Kurt Warner and Mark Rypien for most touchdown passes (15) in a player's first six games of their career.

Fantasy Tip: What makes that even more remarkable is that Watson didn't even begin the season as the starter. He quickly dethroned Tom Savage for the job, however, and hasn't looked back since. The former Clemson standout has been especially terrific as of late, tossing 12 touchdowns in his last three games alone, compared to just two interceptions. He's also been a force on the ground, tallying more than 20 rushing yards in each of his last five contests. Watson has established himself as a legit QB1 for the time being as a result.
