Panthers | No timetable for Curtis Samuel

Tue, 27 Mar 2018 09:04:58 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (ankle) is reportedly doing some straight-ahead running but will be slowly worked back into cutting and breaking on his surgically repaired ankle throughout the offseason, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: Rivera said adding Torrey Smith and Jarius Wright earlier this month were done in part to give Samuel an opportunity to work back into the rotation at a pace "not detrimental to his physical recovery," so his status for Week 1 cannot be taken for granted. The second-year pro can probably be avoided in most fantasy drafts this summer.

Panthers | New targets for Cam Newton?

Fri, 23 Feb 2018 18:14:34 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess, WR Curtis Samuel and WR Damiere Byrd are the only receivers who should feel safe entering the 2018 season, according to David Newton of ESPN.com, and Newton believes the receiving corps could undergo a complete overhaul.

Fantasy Tip: The Panthers could use a true No. 1 receiver, but unless they make a move in free agency, Funchess would be the go-to guy with WR2 potential in 2018.

Panthers | Greg Olsen set to return

Fri, 24 Nov 2017 10:15:02 -0800

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Nov. 24. WR Curtis Samuel (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Ron Rivera told Panthers.com the plan is ease Olsen back in "judiciously," so owners would be advised to sit him this week in fantasy. Regardless, it appears he will have at least one or two full games under his belt before most owners have to decide if he will be a critical part of their fantasy playoff run or not.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel out for season

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 12:54:02 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (ankle) will be shut down for the remainder of the season, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: With Kelvin Benjamin gone and now Samuel out for Carolina, Devin Funchess and Russell Shepard comprise the Panthers' top two wide receivers. Christian McCaffrey will continue to play an integral role in the passing game, but Shepard is worth a pickup if available.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel injury could be season-ending

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 10:55:30 -0800

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (leg, ankle) is feared to have suffered a season-ending leg or ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: A defender landed on the back of Samuel's left leg as he fell to the ground trying to haul in a touchdown pass in Week 10, and it would be surprising if the rookie didn't suffer a break or fracture of some kind in his ankle or lower leg given the angle his ankle turned when the incident occurred. Damiere Byrd is expected to return from the Reserve/Injured list following the team's Week 11 bye and may be the front runner to take over Samuel's growing role in the offense.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel could have serious injury

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 08:44:23 -0800

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (ankle) could have a worse injury than the original thought of a high ankle sprain, according to a team source.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Samuel's season could be over. Russell Shepard will likely see a boost and is worth snagging off waivers.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel sets career highs before exit

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 21:02:05 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel finished with five catches on seven targets for 45 yards in the team's Week 10 game Monday, Nov. 13, versus the Miami Dolphins before having to leave late in the third quarter with an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: Both marks were career highs for the rookie, who has flashed some unique potential since Kelvin Benjamin was dealt away leading up to the trade deadline. Unfortunately, with Samuel having to be helped to the locker room, it's possible that he misses some time, in which case Russell Shepard would get a notable boost.

Panthers | Curtis Samuel exits MNF affair

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 20:03:48 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (ankle) left the team's game Monday, Nov. 13, against the Miami Dolphins after injuring his left ankle late in the third quarter when S Reshad Jones accidentally rolled over it in the end zone. Samuel had to be helped to the locker room and he's being considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Tough break for the rookie out of Ohio State, as Samuel had registered career highs in receptions (five) and receiving yards (45) in this one before having to depart. If he ends up missing time, Devin Funchess and Russell Shepard would benefit considerably.
