Colts | Marlon Mack the early favorite at RB

Mon, 07 May 2018 21:00:51 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack "remains the favorite to slide into the starting role" left behind by Frank Gore and "assume whatever the Colts consider a No. 1 running back in 2018," according to the Indianapolis Star's Zak Keefer.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts did not give Mack any true competition in the form of an early-round running back in the draft and have yet to sign a free agent who could push him. While telling The Star that Mack needs to improve in pass pro, general manager Chris Ballard also said "everything with Marlon was better than I expected, everything." Indianapolis will probably open the season with a committee backfield, but Mack should be given a shot to run away with the job if he starts fast. He's a high-upside, high-end flex option for now.

Colts | Marlon Mack had torn labrum as rookie

Tue, 01 May 2018 20:11:28 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack (shoulder) played with a torn labrum in 2017, according to general manager Chris Ballard. Mack underwent offseason shoulder surgery to repair the tear and expects to be fully healthy by training camp.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts did very little to address the running back position in the draft or free agency, so this is Mack's backfield to lead despite head coach Frank Reich suggesting his team doesn't have a starting running back right now. At the very least, Mack figures to nearly double his 93 carries from a season ago, which would make him a strong flex option and possible RB2 given his big-play ability.

Colts | Marlon Mack in a committee?

Sat, 28 Apr 2018 19:01:17 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack is not the clear starter, according to head coach Frank Reich. "I'm fine with running back by committee," Reich said.

Fantasy Tip: Mack should still be considered the frontrunner to start, but he could share touches with Nyheim Hines and others. Mack looks like a RB3 candidate at this point.

Colts | Marlon Mack bulking up

Fri, 13 Apr 2018 20:45:43 -0700

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack said he is working with the team nutritionist to add a few pounds this offseason in order to handle more carries.

Fantasy Tip: If the Colts don't add another back early in the draft, Mack could be given a chance to lead the backfield in 2018. In that scenario, he would be worth grabbing as a RB3.

Colts | Marlon Mack doesn't do much

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 15:12:49 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack rushed four times for 11 yards and he added two receptions for 20 yards in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Late in the fourth Mack was involved on a pitch from Jacoby Brissett. The QB was credited with the lost fumble, but Mack probably should have had it. The Titans covered up in the red zone and ended up going on to victory as a result. As such, Frank Gore is likely to remain the top dog in the Indy backfield for the remainder of the season.

Colts | Marlon Mack struggles mightily

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 15:09:38 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack rushed seven times for just seven yards in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and he added two receptions for 19 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Mack continues to see about nine to 12 total touches per game, but he isn't doing much with his opportunity. Still, with a 34-year-old Frank Gore on his last legs as a pro, the team could lean upon Mack more down the stretch to see if he can handle the rigors of being a workhorse, especially with the team all but out of the postseason picture. The Colts are off in Week 11.

Colts | Marlon Mack sees nine rushes

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 15:13:31 -0800

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack rushed nine times for 29 yards in Week 9 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Eventually Mack might take over as the No. 1 tailback in Indianapolis, especially if the team is officially eliminated from any postseason hope. However, he averaged just 3.2 yards per carry to 3.0 per tote for Frank Gore, so he'll need to do more if he wants to push the veteran sooner rather than later.
