Bengals | Joe Mixon leads team in rushing

Thu, 14 Sep 2017 21:36:25 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon gained 36 yards on nine carries against the Houston Texans Thursday, Sept. 14, both of which led the team. He added one reception for five yards.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon's modest 4.0 YPC in Week 2 dwarfed those of Gio Bernard (2.0 YPC) and Jeremy Hill (2.8), though a long gain of seven yards tells you there was nothing explosive about Cincy's offense Thursday night. The Bengals will have a few extra days to regroup before Week 3, so we'll see if they solider on with their three-headed approach to the running game. Mixon's upside is too high to cut him loose at this juncture.

Bengals | Joe Mixon mostly bottled up

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 18:20:42 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals rookie RB Joe Mixon rushed eight times for just nine yards in Week 1 against the Ravens and he added three grabs for 15 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon, Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard each split the tailback duties fairly evenly in the opener, but Bernard did the most with his opportunities. Mixon has a ton of upside and will be a fantasy stud before too long, but avoid using him in Week 2 against Houston on a short week.

Bengals | Cincinnati to utilize hot hand at RB

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 09:17:26 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RBs Jeremy Hill, Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard are expected to begin the season in a committee, according to running backs coach Kyle Caskey. "You plan initially for it and try to put guys in the right places for what their talents can do and once the game gets going there is a flow to it. If a guy does have a little juice to him at that time then you stick with him," Caskey said.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals have a history of taking it easy on their rookie running backs, but it seems a bit ridiculous in this case, as Hill hasn't been very effective or efficient since his rookie season in 2014. Mixon is the superior talent, so owners need to remain patient. About the only near-certainties in Cincinnati's backfield are that Bernard is expected to see most of the third-down work and Hill is likely to get the bulk of the work at the goal line. It's up to Mixon to make it obvious he needs to be playing the rest of the time.

Bengals | Joe Mixon listed as No. 3 running back

Tue, 05 Sep 2017 11:24:02 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals rookie RB Joe Mixon is listed as the No. 3 running back on the Bengals' official depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon is the most talented running back on Cincinnati's roster, but he'll have to work his way up from the get-go. Don't be surprised to see him inevitably take over the starting role, but for now he can't be trusted as a viable weekly starter.

Bengals | Joe Mixon runs well in debut

Fri, 11 Aug 2017 20:56:54 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon had six carries for 31 yards and one catch for 11 yards in a 23-12 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Friday, Aug. 11. "Once I got that first carry and got the first-game jitters out of the way, I adjusted," Mixon said.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon will have to compete with Jeremy Hill for playing time on early downs, but if he keeps playing well, he could grab the reins of the backfield. He has enough upside to consider as a low-end RB2.

Bengals | Joe Mixon listed with third-team

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 11:25:26 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals rookie RB Joe Mixon is listed with the third-team offense on the Bengals' initial depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon possesses the most talent and upside in Cincy's backfield, but he is part of a committee right now. Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard will stunt his ceiling as long as they are healthy. Still, Mixon is capable of earning the starting job and managing an RB2 campaign.

Bengals | Joe Mixon returns to practice

Fri, 04 Aug 2017 16:49:53 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (heel) was able to participate in practice Friday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon is competing for the starting job but should have a solid role in the offense even if he does not start. Owners should keep an eye on Mixon during the preseason to have a better understanding of his role. He can be at least a No. 3 running back in fantasy leagues.

Bengals | Jeremy Hill to be the Week 1 starter?

Fri, 04 Aug 2017 09:52:44 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill will likely exit training camp as the starting running back over Joe Mixon if history is any indication, according to ESPN.com's Katherine Terrell.

Fantasy Tip: Mixon has been creating buzz virtually from the time he was drafted, but the Bengals do have some extensive history of making their rookies "earn it," so Hill serving as a nominal starter throughout September is a distinct possibility. It's a reminder Mixon has nothing locked up yet, even if he is the overwhelming favorite to lead the backfield in touches. The rookie should be considered a midrange fantasy RB2 with RB1 upside if he is able to become the featured back at any point this season.

Bengals | Joe Mixon has minor injury

Thu, 03 Aug 2017 14:35:32 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (heel) was kicked in the heel and cut during practice Thursday, Aug. 3, according to a source. The injury is not considered serious, however.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals need to see what Mixon can do in his first preseason, but they also want to preserve their prized possession. As was said earlier, Mixon has RB2 upside if he can win and maintain the Bengals' starting running back job.

Bengals | Heavy dose right away for Joe Mixon?

Thu, 03 Aug 2017 14:14:27 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon could see 15 to 20 carries per game in his rookie season, even starting in Week 1, in the opinion of Geoff Hobson of www.bengals.com.

Fantasy Tip: The hype has been real surrounding Mixon thus far. Off-field issues aside, Mixon has the talent and physique to lead a successful professional football career. View him as an RB2 right away despite possibly sharing time with Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill.
