Vikings | Dalvin Cook could play

Tue, 21 Aug 2018 11:13:54 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook's (knee) status is uncertain for now, but offensive coordinator John DeFilippo said the Vikings are looking forward to "possibly" seeing him play.

Fantasy Tip: It's a more positive outlook than last week. If Cook does play it won't be much. Naturally, the Vikings don't want to risk aggravating what was a serious knee injury. Cook has said he's healthy, though. As such, he's an RB1 candidate even if he splits time with Latavius Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Cook probably would receive limited snaps if he does play in the preseason game but appears to be on track for Week 1. He should receive most of the touches at the running back position this season and can be considered aa No. 1 or No. 2 fantasy running back.

Fantasy Tip: Cook looks good to go for the start of the regular season. All he has to do is avoid aggravating that knee in the preseason. His dual-threat ability puts him in the RB1 conversation.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook won't wear protective brace

Thu, 26 Jul 2018 17:57:58 -0700

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) explained that he feels comfortable enough with his surgically-repaired left knee that he's decided not to wear a protective brace for the season. "I told myself, I know the work I put in. I'm going to test it out before I get back to training camp," Cook said. "I felt comfortable with (not wearing) it so I just went forward and made sure the training staff knows that I'm not going to be wearing it. They are comfortable with it as long as I'm comfortable with it."

Fantasy Tip: This certainly bodes well for those willing to gamble on Cook and his health after he suffered a major season-ending injury in his rookie campaign last year. The 22-year-old displayed impressive talent out of the gate, accumulating 354 yards on 74 carries and a pair of touchdowns, not to mention 11 receptions for 90 yards, before tearing his ACL in Week 4. Cook has RB1 potential for sure.
