Vikings | Dalvin Cook part of team drills

Tue, 05 Jun 2018 11:24:56 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) has participated in team drills during organized team activities this week.

Fantasy Tip: Cook is on the mend and on his way to retaking the lead back position in Minnesota. He was being featured as a rookie before suffering his torn ACL last year. That should continue as long as he's fully healthy. Latavius Murray will steal some touches and touchdowns, but Cook has RB1 appeal nonetheless.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook looking at Week 1

Wed, 30 May 2018 21:01:54 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) said his goal is to be ready for Week 1 and is on track to meet that goal.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation during training camp to see if Cook suffers any setbacks. He should receive most of the work at running back if he is healthy but will also have to share some snaps with Latavius Murray. Owners in most leagues should consider Cook has a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 running back this upcoming season.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook ahead of schedule

Mon, 21 May 2018 15:45:50 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation process. Head coach Mike Zimmer believes Cook will see work during organized team activities, but he will be limited in training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Limiting Cook in camp lessens the risk of aggravation, but it's a positive sign that he'll be participating in OTAs. As long as he holds his current pace, he should be good to go for the season opener. View him as an RB1 with risk attached.

Vikings | Minnesota pleased with Dalvin Cook's rehab

Tue, 24 Apr 2018 17:45:39 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) has been doing some work on the field since spring drills began April 16, and athletic trainer Eric Sugarman confirmed Cook's recovery from a torn left ACL in Week 4 last season is going well. "Dalvin has knocked the rehab out of the park. He has done a great job. He has been here every day since the injury occurred post-surgery. He will participate in (organized team activities and minicamp) on a limited basis. … Hopefully when he gets to training camp … he will be a participant just like everybody else," Sugarman said.

Fantasy Tip: Cook will likely go in the late first round of many fantasy drafts this spring and summer, but he has to be considered one of the favorites to perform like an early first-round pick. The Vikings upgraded at quarterback in the offseason with Kirk Cousins and the defense should remain among the best in the league, so volume should not be an issue. Consider him a strong RB1 option.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook ahead of schedule

Tue, 27 Mar 2018 07:48:45 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) is ahead of schedule in his rehab, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. Cook will do some work, but not everything, in organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Cook has a chance to be an elite PPR running back, but he has to prove it. He'll be among the midrange RB1 backs with something to prove.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook headed for big year?

Fri, 02 Feb 2018 20:34:35 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) has "progressed nicely" from his knee surgery, general manager Rick Spielman said Thursday, Feb. 1, and Spielman said Cook could have the same success that Arizona Cardinals RB Adrian Peterson had coming off his knee surgery in 2012.

Fantasy Tip: Although it's a reach to suggest Cook could threaten the NFL rushing record and win MVP honors like Peterson did in his return from ACL surgery, Cook showed enough potential prior to his injury to make him a RB2 candidate in 2018.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook making progress

Mon, 22 Jan 2018 09:52:33 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) said he is able to do some jogging but does not have a timetable for when he will return to football activities.

Fantasy Tip: Cook probably will not do much during offseason workouts but should have a good chance to be ready for the start of the 2018 season. He played well before suffering his injury this season and should have a similar role in 2018. He can be a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in fantasy leagues next season.

Vikings | Tough sledding for Latavius Murray

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 20:48:08 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Latavius Murray is averaging 2.6 yards on 25 carries in the two games since RB Dalvin Cook (knee) was injured.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has been splitting time with Jerick McKinnon in Cook's absence, but McKinnon has been the more explosive and versatile back. Murray is a low-upside flex play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7, and McKinnon has RB2 upside in PPR formats.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook's surgery a success

Tue, 10 Oct 2017 13:07:06 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) underwent successful knee surgery Monday, Oct. 9, according to a source. Cook said he will be back for the start of the 2018 season.

Fantasy Tip: As was evident Monday night, Jerick McKinnon looks to be Cook's heir apparent in Minnesota's backfield. McKinnon has put together an underwhelming career, but he looked great against the Chicago Bears. Latavius Murray is worth a pickup, too, but he is tailored for standard leagues and does not have as much upside as McKinnon.
