Vikings | Dalvin Cook headed for big year?

Fri, 02 Feb 2018 20:34:35 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) has "progressed nicely" from his knee surgery, general manager Rick Spielman said Thursday, Feb. 1, and Spielman said Cook could have the same success that Arizona Cardinals RB Adrian Peterson had coming off his knee surgery in 2012.

Fantasy Tip: Although it's a reach to suggest Cook could threaten the NFL rushing record and win MVP honors like Peterson did in his return from ACL surgery, Cook showed enough potential prior to his injury to make him a RB2 candidate in 2018.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook making progress

Mon, 22 Jan 2018 09:52:33 -0800

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) said he is able to do some jogging but does not have a timetable for when he will return to football activities.

Fantasy Tip: Cook probably will not do much during offseason workouts but should have a good chance to be ready for the start of the 2018 season. He played well before suffering his injury this season and should have a similar role in 2018. He can be a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in fantasy leagues next season.

Vikings | Tough sledding for Latavius Murray

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 20:48:08 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Latavius Murray is averaging 2.6 yards on 25 carries in the two games since RB Dalvin Cook (knee) was injured.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has been splitting time with Jerick McKinnon in Cook's absence, but McKinnon has been the more explosive and versatile back. Murray is a low-upside flex play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7, and McKinnon has RB2 upside in PPR formats.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook's surgery a success

Tue, 10 Oct 2017 13:07:06 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) underwent successful knee surgery Monday, Oct. 9, according to a source. Cook said he will be back for the start of the 2018 season.

Fantasy Tip: As was evident Monday night, Jerick McKinnon looks to be Cook's heir apparent in Minnesota's backfield. McKinnon has put together an underwhelming career, but he looked great against the Chicago Bears. Latavius Murray is worth a pickup, too, but he is tailored for standard leagues and does not have as much upside as McKinnon.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook's season over

Mon, 02 Oct 2017 09:09:02 -0700

Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) will miss the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. He will require surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon will probably split the load, but both of them are hampered by ankle injuries. McKinnon has sparse upside, and Murray is probably the best bet to see the most work. Murray said he's not 100 percent from offseason ankle surgery, but he'll be an RB3 moving forward. McKinnon is an RB5 fallback.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook feared to have torn ACL

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 14:25:20 -0700

Updating a previous reports, the Minnesota Vikings fear RB Dalvin Cook (knee) might have suffered a torn left anterior cruciate ligament in the Week 4 game against the Detroit Lions. Head coach Mike Zimmer said Cook will have an MRI on Monday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: The rookie was off to a hot start, but it appears his season is over unless tests confirm he did not suffer any structural damage. It appears Jerick McKinnon is the back to target off the waiver wire this week, and Latavius Murray should see a bigger role, should Cook officially be ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook a big factor for Vikings

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 13:56:34 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook rushed for 97 yards and one touchdown on 27 carries against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3. He also caught five passes for 72 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Cook received almost all of the carries during the game and is the clear No. 1 running back for the Vikings. He will continue to be involved in the passing, which makes him a weekly starting option for owners in all fantasy leagues.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook wants to start stronger

Sat, 23 Sep 2017 21:48:04 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has 14 carries for 25 yards in the first halves of his two games this year and 20 carries for 166 yards in the second halves, and he said he is working on being more effective early in games.

Fantasy Tip: Facing the Buccaneers in Week 3 without Sam Bradford under center isn't ideal, but Cook's workload should at least make him a volume-based RB2.

NFL | Dalvin Cook, Kareem Hunt living off big plays

Tue, 19 Sep 2017 17:31:14 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook and Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt lead the NFL with six big-play rushes - defined as runs that cover more than 10 yards - through two games.

Fantasy Tip: Unsurprisingly, Hunt leads the league in rushing with 229 yards, while Cook is third with a NFC-best 191. Hunt's five total touchdowns are tied for the second-most by any player in his first two career games, while his 355 scrimmage yards is the fourth-highest total by a rookie in his team's first two games in league history. Cook only needs to find the end zone - he has yet to do so - with some regularity before ascending into fantasy RB1 territory.
