Panthers | Big game for Christian McCaffrey

Fri, 17 Aug 2018 20:38:20 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed five times for 92 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 28 yards in a 27-20 win over the Miami Dolphins Friday, Aug. 17.

Fantasy Tip: The Panthers really do seem to be committed to feeding McCaffrey as a runner, and if he continues to see plenty of carries, he is going to be a RB1 in PPR formats.

Panthers | Six touches for Christian McCaffrey

Thu, 09 Aug 2018 19:21:26 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed four times for 11 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 29 yards in a 28-23 win over the Buffalo Bills in the preseason Thursday, Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: It's too early to tell how carries will be split, but McCaffrey and C.J. Anderson both had four in the preseason opener. McCaffrey has already shown he can be a PPR monster, and he could vault into RB1 territory if he sees enough touches on the ground.

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey does not practice

Sun, 05 Aug 2018 17:55:13 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (illness) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 5, because of an illness, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: McCaffrey could miss a few practices but likely will be fine soon. He should receive a lot of touches in the running and passing game his season even if he does not start and can be No. 2 running back in most fantasy leagues.

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey to get large workload?

Wed, 25 Jul 2018 17:58:32 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey may be in store for a large workload this season, as head coach Ron Rivera said it would be "ideal" that he gets the ball 25 to 30 times per game.

Fantasy Tip: McCaffrey had a very solid rookie campaign a year ago, carrying the ball 117 times for 435 yards and two rushing touchdowns as well as hauling in 80 catches for 651 yards and five touchdowns through the air. C.J. Anderson being in town now figures to maybe prevent him from getting a huge workload, but he's still in the RB2 discussion.

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey in for hefty load?

Wed, 25 Jul 2018 13:21:21 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey's ideal workload would be 25 to 30 touches per game, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Fantasy Tip: As reported earlier, McCaffrey is up to 208 pounds from 202 pounds, so he can afford to see a few more touches this year. The question is how many touches are in store for C.J. Anderson? Either way, McCaffrey has RB1 appeal as a PPR stud.

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey bulked up

Wed, 25 Jul 2018 12:29:15 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey added some weight this offseason and is up to 208 pounds. He played at 202 pounds last year.

Fantasy Tip: McCaffrey needed to add some weight in order to bear the wear and tear of more carries and/or more touches. C.J. Anderson will limit McCaffrey's ceiling some, but he's still an RB1 PPR candidate.

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey primed for 200 carries?

Tue, 24 Jul 2018 09:12:46 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey could reach the 200-carry mark, according to head coach Ron Rivera. The coaching staff is reportedly confident McCaffrey can run between the tackles, much like he did in college. McCaffrey has bulked up about five pounds to 210 pounds to be better prepared for the pounding.

Fantasy Tip: It's the second time this offseason Rivera has stated publicly McCaffrey could handle that many carries after last year's No. 8 overall pick finished with 117 rushing attempts as a rookie. If McCaffrey were to hit that number and only experience a minimal drop from his 80 catches in 2017, he would be a near-lock for RB1 production. ESPN's David Newton seems to believe C.J. Anderson will be "a nice change-of-pace option."

Panthers | More big plays for Christian McCaffrey?

Sun, 08 Jul 2018 18:17:10 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is going to be put in position to make more big plays this year, according to offensive coordinator Norv Turner, and Turner envisions using McCaffrey in a similar fashion to retired RB LaDainian Tomlinson.

Fantasy Tip: McCaffrey isn't going to be an every-down workhorse like Tomlinson, but he should surpass the 80 catches and 1,086 total yards he delivered as a rookie if Turner moves him around more often. He's a high-end RB2 and likely a RB1 in PPR formats.

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey poised for big workload

Tue, 05 Jun 2018 10:42:28 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey will be the featured back this season following the release of Jonathan Stewart, according to ESPN's David Newton, who reports head coach Ron Rivera said Monday, June 4, that he sees no reason why McCaffrey cannot reach 200 carries in 2018 after finishing with 117 as a rookie.

Fantasy Tip: Norv Turner has given his lead back at least 200 carries in seven of his eight full seasons as an offensive coordinator, and there's no reason McCaffrey can't add to that number. Newton speculates McCaffrey's ability as a receiver should not affect his number of carries, although the Panthers' addition of D.J. Moore and the return of Greg Olsen will probably knock his team-high 80 receptions down a bit. Even with C.J. Anderson on board, McCaffrey is likely to become a fantasy RB1 in all formats if he sees 250 touches.

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey noticeably stronger

Tue, 29 May 2018 09:09:25 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey estimates he has "gained five pounds of good muscle" this offseason, according to Bill Voth of Panthers.com.

Fantasy Tip: It means he should be roughly 208 pounds at the moment if the 203 pounds he was listed at last season was correct. While McCaffrey broke 27 tackles on receptions - tied for fourth-most in the league - he broke only 20 tackles as a runner. Even with the admission of C.J. Anderson, McCaffrey should be poised for more carries in his second season, so anything he can do to increase his yards per carry (3.7 as a rookie) is a good thing. Consider him a low-end RB1 in PPR with huge upside.
