Redskins | Rob Kelley slimmed down

Thu, 02 Aug 2018 19:47:47 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley said he is playing faster now that his weight is down to 221 pounds this season.

Fantasy Tip: Kelley's spot on the roster isn't set in stone, which probably has a lot to do with his leaner frame. If he does make the team, he will be a backup with little value in fantasy leagues.

Redskins | Coach happy with Rob Kelley

Wed, 01 Aug 2018 19:22:15 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley has performed very well during the early part of training camp, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Kelley is probably competing with Samaje Perine for a spot on the roster, so Kelley will need to perform well in the preseason to make the team. He probably would be a backup if he makes the team and should be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Redskins | Rob Kelley working with first-team offense

Wed, 27 Jun 2018 17:07:57 -0700

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley has been the first running back to go through individual drills with running backs coach Randy Jordan during the first two weeks of organized team activities. He's also taken a majority of the reps at running back with the first-team offense.

Fantasy Tip: Kelley appeared to be on the verge of breaking out following a solid rookie campaign in 2016 before injuries limited him to seven games a year ago. With a logjam in the Washington backfield, it's best to wait and see how the workload will be split up during training camp.

Redskins | Rob Kelley officially placed on IR

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 14:21:06 -0800

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle, knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Chris Thompson will continue to be Washington's most valuable fantasy running back, but Samaje Perine will now have a more substantial role in the offense. He hasn't done much with the opportunities he's been given this season, but he deserves to be added off waivers nonetheless.

Redskins | Rob Kelley could go to IR

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 12:23:56 -0800

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle, knee) might be placed on the Reserve/Injured list after suffering a high-ankle sprain and a medial collateral ligament sprain in Week 10. Kelley will at least miss multiple games.

Fantasy Tip: An already forgettable season becomes even more forgettable for the sophomore running back. With Kelley sidelined for the foreseeable future, Samaje Perine stands to take over running duties, but Chris Thompson remains Washington's most valuable running back. Pick up Perine off waivers if he's available.

Redskins | Rob Kelley facing lengthy absence

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 09:42:42 -0800

Updating previous reports, Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle, knee) suffered a high ankle sprain and a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Both injuries could keep him out six weeks or more. Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson will split the load, with Thompson mostly in on passing downs. Both are worth owning and make matchup plays as a flex option.

Redskins | Samaje Perine is best of the lot

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 18:12:19 -0800

Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine rushed nine times for a team-high 35 yards in the Week 10 game against the Minnesota Vikings. RB Chris Thompson ran nine times for 26 yards, and RB Rob Kelley had just 10 yards on four totes.

Fantasy Tip: Perine was the best of the trio, but that's not saying much. He also tacked on a 25-yard reception, while Thompson was good for 41 yards on three receptions. Perine remains more of an RB3 or flex play in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, while Thompson has far more appeal in PPR formats.

Redskins | Rob Kelley injured

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 10:39:43 -0800

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle, knee) suffered ankle and knee injuries in Week 10 and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye on the situation to see how long Kelley may be sidelined because of the injuries. Samaje Perine could receive most of the carries if Kelley misses extended playing time and could be a flex option in deeper leagues.
