Bengals.com reports Cincinnati Bengals CB Tom Carter re-aggravated his sprained knee at the end of Friday’s practice. The Bengals plan on re-examining Carter Saturday. If Carter is not able to play, the Bengals may have to activate Kevin Kaesviharn from the practice squad. CB Robert Bean (hamstring) is ready to play Sunday. It will probably be a game-time decision whether Bean, Carter or Bo Jennings will be the nickel CB. Head coach Dick LeBeau said that DT Tony Williams (foot) is ready to start.

The Cincinnati Post reports Cincinnati Bengals DT Tony Williams (foot) practiced Wednesday without any problems and will know Thursday if he will be able to play in Sunday’s game. CBs Robert Bean (hamstring) and Tom Carter (knee) are closer to game-speed, but Bean said he still feels some tweaking when he cuts or backpedals. WR Chad Johnson (collarbone) participated in some light tossing and jogging Wednesday.

DT Tony Williams (right foot sprain), CB Robert Bean (hamstring), CB Tom Carter (bruised knee) and LB Canute Curtis (bruised right knee) have all healed over the BYE week. WR Chad Johnson (fractured left collarbone) may be the only player to miss this weekend's game.

CB Robert Bean, who missed the second half of Sunday's game with a strained right hamstring, is doubtful for the Detroit game. RT Willie Anderson (slight concussion) is questionable for next Sunday. Updating a previous story, CB Rodney Heath will see Dr. Bill Garrett on Wednesday about his torn hamstring. "We're trying to determine if he should have surgery," Bengals trainer Paul Sparling said. "It's a career-impacting injury. He has a lot of work ahead of him." The team is expected to place Heath on injured reserve.

He flashed his game-breaking speed in Saturday’s team session when he caught a 40-yard bomb over the wrong shoulder. Director of pro/college personnel Jim Lippincott said the key thing was Scott was able to burst past CB Robert Bean. WRs coach Steve Mooshagian said Scott is down six pounds from Saturday at 202. They want him at 200.

Geoff Hobson reports for Bengals.com the one-year contract signed by CB Artrell Hawkins with the Bengals was his tender offer of $512,000. The Bengals continue to seek a veteran corner in free agency and the team has been talking to CB Tom Carter about possibly re-signing at a new low rate after cutting him and his $2.4 million salary last month. Hawkins rejoins Rodney Heath, Charles Fisher, Mark Roman and Robert Bean in the Bengals much maligned secondary.

Geoff Hobson reports for the team's official site the Cincinnati Bengals kicked off Thursday's cuts by releasing, as expected, CB Tom Carter. He was probably most popular player in the locker room. He lost his starting job to Robert Bean late last season. CB coach Kevin Coyle said Bean, Mark Roman, Rodney Heath and Artrell Hawkins would now compete for Carter's spot. The Bengals have three more veteran QBs they can look at with yesterday's releases, Ryan Leaf, Elvis Grbac and Doug Flutie. Grbac is a Cleveland native.

The Columbus Dispatch reports Cincinnati Bengals CB Artrell Hawkins will start in place of injured rookie Robert Bean (knee). Bean is doubtful for Sunday. Head coach Dick LeBeau said rookie WR Danny Farmer probably will supplant Craig Yeast. Yeast is not listed on the injury report, but LeBeau said he has a bruised arm. LeBeau said he might have rookie WR Peter Warrick take over punt-return duties Sunday. Warrick has returned two punts, fumbling one, for a 5.0 average.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Cincinnati Bengals CB Rodney Heath (shoulder), who was put on IR on Monday, will not have to undergo surgery. He'll need 6-8 weeks to recover. With Heath out of action, rookie Robert Bean will move to right CB while Tom Carter will start at left CB. DL Vaughn Booker (knee) may also be out for the year. He has an arthritic condition and cyst in his knee and may have to undergo surgery.
