Buccaneers | Peyton Barber could start for Bucs in '18

Wed, 10 Jan 2018 20:18:58 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber "will be right there" in regards to his status of possibly being the club's lead running back going into 2018, according to head coach Dirk Koetter, and it will "definitely be a consideration."

Fantasy Tip: Barber opened many eyes in his second year in the NFL. The undrafted running back out of Auburn gained 335 yards on 78 carries over the final five games when he got extended run, and with Doug Martin scuffling for a variety of reasons, it would seem Barber has established himself as a fixture in Tampa Bay's running game to open up 2018. However, there's still a chance the Bucs may address the position during the offseason as well.

Buccaneers | Peyton Barber leads backfield

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 13:42:57 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber had a team-high 13 rushes for 51 yards in Week 16 against the Carolina Panthers while adding two receptions for four yards on his two targets.

Fantasy Tip: Barber was the lead back in the Tampa backfield despite the fact Doug Martin, Charles Sims and Jacquizz Rodgers were also active. He could be the back the Buccaneers lean upon heading into 2018 and beyond, but at this point it's anyone's guess.

Buccaneers | Peyton Barber decent in MNF start

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 22:14:26 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber amassed 53 rushing yards on 13 carries, as well as 15 receiving yards on three receptions in the team's Week 15 loss Monday, Dec. 18, versus the Atlanta Falcons. In addition, he lost a fumble.

Fantasy Tip: Barber got the start with Doug Martin being inactive due to a violation of team rules but didn't churn out much with the opportunity. In his defense, quarterback Jameis Winston was simply outstanding, so it made sense to stick to the passing game. Barber has shown plenty of RB2 potential, however, and should sustain that status if he keeps getting the bulk of the work in Tampa Bay's backfield.

Buccaneers | Peyton Barber expected to start

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 14:57:51 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber is expected to be the team's starting running back against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Barber has recorded 160 yards over the last two games and probably will receive most of the carries against the Falcons. He will still share playing time with the other running backs on the roster but could be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Buccaneers | Peyton Barber runs for 58 yards

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 18:51:28 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber rushed 12 times for a team-high 58 yards in Week 14 against the Detroit Lions and he added five-yard reception on his only target.

Fantasy Tip: Barber led the team despite the return for Doug Martin from a one-game absence. Barber averaged 4.8 yards per run to just 2.6 yards per carry for Martin, and certainly looks to be the more effective back at this point. As long as there is a timeshare, however, he is nothing more than a RB3 or flex play in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Buccaneers | Peyton Barber tops century mark

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 15:54:30 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber stepped up with 23 rushes and 102 yards in Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Barber did a great job in place of Doug Martin (concussion), and the three-headed monster in the Tampa Bay backfield never materialized. Barber saw 27 total touches, while Jacquizz Rodgers had just three touches and Charles Sims totaled five. As long as Martin is sidelined, Barber is the back you want for fantasy purposes.

Buccaneers | Peyton Barber scores two TDs

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 13:14:04 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber rushed for seven yards and two touchdowns on five carries against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Barber was used as a goal line back against the Falcons and could receive a bigger role next week if Doug Martin is not able to play. Owners should keep an eye on the situation because Barber could have some value next week against the Green Bay Packers.

Buccaneers | Peyton Barber picks up 11 rushes

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 17:01:03 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber rushed 11 times for a team-high 34 yards in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints and he added two catches for 20 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Barber was seeing some extra work with a lopsided game, so don't look into this too much. He isn't replacing Doug Martin, even though the veteran starter had a terrible afternoon.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay to use RBBC without Doug Martin

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 10:43:08 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers will most likely be the first- and second- down back, while Charles Sims will handle most of the third-down work and Peyton Barber will be the goal-line back while Doug Martin serves his season-opening three-game suspension, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.

Fantasy Tip: No real surprises here, although Laine points out Barber has improved quite a bit and may have been the most explosive back in camp behind Martin in the preseason. As things stand right now, expect Martin to handle the early-down and goal-line work upon his return, while Sims keeps his role and Rodgers becomes more of a handcuff.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin, Charles Sims top RB chart

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 16:28:50 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RBs Doug Martin and Charles Sims are the two top active running backs for the Week 15 game against the Dallas Cowboys with RB Jacquizz Rodgers a healthy scratch. RB Peyton Barber is also active.

Fantasy Tip: It's interesting, as Martin was not going much recently and it sounded like Rodgers would see a bigger piece of the offensive pie. Now, a week later, he is a healthy scratch. Martin and Sims could each split the carries since both have been injury prone, making for a tough fantasy situation.
