Former NFL WR David Terrell is being held on $10,000 bond for a domestic battery charge. Court documents allege he grabbed his ex-girlfriend during an argument inside his Chicago apartment and threatened to throw her off a balcony. Terrell was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and appeared in court Saturday, April 14. Terrell's attorney declined to comment, saying his client is innocent. Terrell was arrested Friday, April 13.

"It sounds strange, doesn't it?" Terrell said Sunday night, Jan. 29. "But it's the truth. I learned so much this year. This has been the best year of my career, because I got better this year. I was stale all of those years in Chicago. I felt alone. Here in Denver, I felt like I became a NFL player, and I became a great player because I am here." ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Denver Broncos have released WR David Terrell, but only temporarily. He was one of several vested veterans league wide who were released Saturday, Sept. 10, for salary cap and payroll purposes. Under terms of the collective bargaining agreement, a vested veteran, a player with four or more seasons accrued toward the NFL pension plan, is guaranteed his full base salary for the year if he is on an opening-day roster. To avoid the guarantee, teams often release fringe vested players before the start of the season, then re-sign them after the opener. He is expected to be re-signed next week.

The Denver Post reports Denver Broncos WR David Terrell may be cut Friday, Sept. 9, with the idea of bringing him back early next week. The transactions, which the Broncos hope are nothing but a technicality, would lift the guaranteed portion of Terrell's contract. Because Terrell is not expected to become familiar enough with the Broncos' offensive system to play until the season's third game against Kansas City, the moves should not cost him any playing time. There is a risk another team could sign him, but that is not likely.
