Broncos | Terrell Cut - Temporarily

Sat, 10 Sep 2005 20:26:33 -0700

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Denver Broncos have released WR David Terrell, but only temporarily. He was one of several vested veterans league wide who were released Saturday, Sept. 10, for salary cap and payroll purposes. Under terms of the collective bargaining agreement, a vested veteran, a player with four or more seasons accrued toward the NFL pension plan, is guaranteed his full base salary for the year if he is on an opening-day roster. To avoid the guarantee, teams often release fringe vested players before the start of the season, then re-sign them after the opener. He is expected to be re-signed next week.

Broncos | Terrell may be Cut and Re-signed

Fri, 09 Sep 2005 06:56:36 -0700

The Denver Post reports Denver Broncos WR David Terrell may be cut Friday, Sept. 9, with the idea of bringing him back early next week. The transactions, which the Broncos hope are nothing but a technicality, would lift the guaranteed portion of Terrell's contract. Because Terrell is not expected to become familiar enough with the Broncos' offensive system to play until the season's third game against Kansas City, the moves should not cost him any playing time. There is a risk another team could sign him, but that is not likely.
