NFL | Dalvin Cook, Kareem Hunt living off big plays

Tue, 19 Sep 2017 17:31:14 -0700

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook and Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt lead the NFL with six big-play rushes - defined as runs that cover more than 10 yards - through two games.

Fantasy Tip: Unsurprisingly, Hunt leads the league in rushing with 229 yards, while Cook is third with a NFC-best 191. Hunt's five total touchdowns are tied for the second-most by any player in his first two career games, while his 355 scrimmage yards is the fourth-highest total by a rookie in his team's first two games in league history. Cook only needs to find the end zone - he has yet to do so - with some regularity before ascending into fantasy RB1 territory.

Chiefs | Kareem Hunt scores twice in Week 2

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 13:55:50 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt had 13 carries for 81 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 27-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 17. He also caught all three of his targeted passes for 28 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Facing two strong teams out of the starting gate, Hunt has been quite impressive. It has been a solid debut for Hunt, who is gaining status as an RB1 option with each carry. Scoring and yardage leagues will benefit from Hunt's fleet feet.

Chiefs | Kareem Hunt enjoys monster debut

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 21:27:33 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt ran 17 times for 148 yards (8.7 YPC), caught five passes for 98 yards (19.6 YPR) and scored three times in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: If you were wondering about the distribution of carries between Hunt and Charcandrick West heading into Thursday, wonder no more. After an early fumble, Hunt turned 22 total touches into 246 yards and three touchdowns while West had one carry and one reception. It's a long season, but Hunt looks like a legitimate featured back and possible weekly play as a high-end RB2 with RB1 potential.

Chiefs | Kareem Hunt to be featured Week 1?

Tue, 05 Sep 2017 17:29:37 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt will be the team's "regular featured back" against the New England Patriots on Thursday, Sept. 7, according to ESPN.com's Adam Teicher.

Fantasy Tip: This story has taken a few twists and turns over the last few days with coordinator Matt Nagy hinting at a committee Monday, but that seems unlikely given how Charcandrick West has failed to distinguish himself in 2016 or during the preseason. West will probably log about five or so touches per game and Tyreek Hill may steal a few carries here and there, but this is shaping up to be Hunt's backfield for as long as he can handle it.

Chiefs | Committee for Chiefs in Week 1

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 13:22:06 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RBs Kareem Hunt, Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller are all expected to see the field in Week 1, according to offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. Hunt will start the game, but Nagy said all three are "a big part" of the game plan against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: We'll see how much of this is blowing smoke, but for now we'll take Nagy at his word. Don't let this news keep Hunt out of your starting lineup, though. Hunt is the Kansas City back to start this week and the Chiefs back to own for the year as a whole.

Chiefs | Spencer Ware likely done for the season

Sun, 27 Aug 2017 09:02:50 -0700

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (knee) has been diagnosed with a torn PCL and has additional damage to his LCL, according to team trainer Rick Burkholder, whose staff believes Ware "probably needs season-ending surgery." Head coach Andy Reid has already designated rookie Kareem Hunt as the "next man up."

Fantasy Tip: It appears as Hunt's fantasy stock can officially skyrocket. Already ticketed for something of a feature-back role for the six-to-eight weeks Ware was initially expected to miss, the rookie enters the high-end RB2/low-end RB1 conversation. There's an outside chance in less competitive leagues Hunt will drop to the fourth round, but he may go as early as the late second or early third round now.

Chiefs | Kareem Hunt leads the backfield

Fri, 25 Aug 2017 20:31:39 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt carried a team-high nine times for 39 yards in a 26-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the preseason Friday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Hunt was already making a case to split time with Spencer Ware, and Ware suffered a potentially serious knee injury Friday. If Ware misses time, Hunt would instantly become a RB2 candidate.

Chiefs | Kareem Hunt impresses

Sat, 19 Aug 2017 18:15:22 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt played 17 of the first 19 snaps of the preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals Saturday, Aug. 19, and had eight carries for 40 yards and three catches for 23 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Hunt was given a chance to show his stuff with the starters, and he made the most of it. The versatile rookie is making a strong case for a big role in the offense, and he could potentially overtake Spencer Ware. He might not be a bad gamble as a RB3.

Chiefs | Kareem Hunt seeing more time with first-team

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 09:02:49 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt is seeing increased work with the first-team as time goes on and could potentially work himself into the starting running back this preseason, according to ArrowheadPride.com's Pete Sweeney.

Fantasy Tip: This should not come as a major shock, as Hunt has been consistently been praised by the coaching staff for his ability to process the playbook and his general NFL readiness. Spencer Ware is a likely best candidate at his early fourth-round ADP, while Hunt is an extreme value at his mid eighth-round ADP. This has all the makings of a split backfield early on, and it is a battle the rookie could easily win a few weeks into the season.

Chiefs | Kareem Hunt signs rookie deal

Mon, 05 Jun 2017 12:13:00 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt signed his four-year rookie deal Monday, June 5. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Hunt's playmaking ability and athleticism will help him challenge Spence Ware right away. Ware won't be pushed over easily, but Hunt should be targeted as a mid- to late-round handcuff for those who draf Ware.
